I know that there had been a thread/topic about this before, but I can't find it right now so........

The comment function on the members profiles is okay, but there are really times that a PM function would be great to have. Somethings you really don't want to share with everyone and their dog, like email addy or just a private message. As long as the PM would have the usual features of us being able to block those that would abuse the PM (sending nasty &/or threatening PMs), save messages, the address book to okay or block members by nicknames and the other usual bits.

What are others thoughts? For or against a PM function? Please explain why and let's keep it clean please

As far as I am concerned, the need for a PM system is a no-brainer obvious one. It would be much easier to share information with another member without the entire site having to see it- emails, facebooks, etc... maybe just a private conversation. I for one do not one all of my personal business up for every Tom, Dick, and Harry to read.

99% of forums have a PM function, so I am all for it.

That is quite true. There is no such thing as total privacy online... although a PM system does provide a certain amount of privacy from a specific group of people.

So it seems that in this thread only two have outright said, 'No' to a PM function. While there seems to be a majority for a PM function.

If I remember right from the last threads/topics that talked about having a PM function, those also showed that the majority were for a PM function. Perhaps a PM function could be installed with the option for members to choose if they wanted to enable the PM for themselves or not. I think that was already mentioned in an earlier post in the thread.

Maybe Admin could bring the PM back with that option. It's not going to please everyone, but it should be a good start at least.

Sure why not but for me its no big deal since I really don't use PM's a whole lot any how and the comments are great for me to use as link savers for my and possibly others peoples interests as well. So its a what ever for me.

I'm all for it! The last board had an option to block people. This one could have the same option. You don't have to open any PM's from someone you don't know or trust, just delete them w/o reading them. (*shrugs*)
