For those who are new to the boards. Enterprise took a bashing from Brokren Bow forward. It was a miracle a series was created that was more hated than Voyager. A feat thought impossible by most.

The series was not well recieived by fans who had begged for a new series were now confused and angry the show was touted as 100 years before Kirk. Yet it was TNG all the way the ship had Transporters ,Phasers and Photon torpedoes. There was a Klingon on Earth prior to the founding of the Federation. There were species never mentioned in "Future" Trek series.

In it's third season it was announced Enterprise  was canceled due to bad ratings.

Then a syndication deal was reached and Season four was announced Manny Cotto was broght in and Star Trek was added to the title.

Around the third episode of Season 4 it was announced Star Trek Enterprise would be canceled .

Then the Save Star Trek campaigns started.

While Manny did many things right in season 4 it was to little to late the series did not find a fan base.

that doesn't answer the question. and i am not looking for some thread on a message board, i am sdling for an actual article that states this as fact and not something you just made up.

Enterprise started off with some pretty good shows. Then it became boring. The second and third season didn't have much to offer, just the Enterprise and crew traveling through the Delphic Expanse looking for the big,bad Xindi who had attacked and ravaged Earth.Original Star Trek never was that bland and boring, not even at its' worse(think TOS "Spocks Brain" and "The Apple",and "Turn About Intruder".It wasn't until the fourth season that they started to make good episodes of the show again.Episodes like "A Mirror Darkly" were beginning to give me hope that the show would make it.It was the show's writers and producers who caused this show to fail by not offering exciting shows and trying to be too politiclly correct, not the bulk of the Star Trek fans. They offered bland retreads of stories that we are all too familiar with and seldom offered anything new.For example, how many times can we watch episodes that involve the crew traveling through time? It gets pretty old after awhile.

Camorite, you make nice accusations, but those of us who had little interest in ent in the beginning have given you many reasons other than the ones in your head. Just because your opinion is strong doesn't make it fact. Face it, all evidence points to the failure of ent to not be on the shoulders of viewers. You are in the stage of grief where you want someone to blame, move on.

Actually, the Nielsen data also refutes this theory too. After an initial bump, every spin-off after TNG has followed a general downward trend, including ENT. If anything, the data indicates that the initial TNG fanbase was the only one watching the spin-offs. Not that many new fans were added over the years.

Really? Is that how most people see it? Do most fans here (or elsewhere) hate ENT more than VOY? I'm curious about this.

I do personally find Voyager to be the absolute nadir of the Trek franchise and yet it is partly redeemed by having two excellent characters in it - the Doctor and 7 of 9. These two fine actors lift the whole dull charade just enought to make it viewable and really throw the rest of the cast into the shade. The qualitative difference between Picardo and Ryan compared to the other actors/deadweights is astonishing to me. I'm surprised more people don't seem to see it.

This is something that Enterprise also lacks - really good actors. But whereas VOY has two standouts - ENT has none. Yes it has the delighfully watchable T'Pol who has some of the nicer 'features' of the female nature, but even she is fairly limited as an actor.

Having said this - I like ENT much better than VOY. So why is this?

Possibly because I don't mind the lead - Bakula/Archer as captain. He's OK. Not annoying or irritating like Mulgrew/Janeway. Perhaps because it has a smaller crew? I really can't say. It might just be because ENT has less annoying things about it than does VOY, even allowing for the latter having the two best characters.

Every time I check into VOY there is yet something else new and annoying and the latest thing was all that Torres/Paris baby bollocks. So Tom has got Belanna up the duff. Gawd ... if ever there was something guaranteed to have me heading for the local vomitorium - it is the idea of all this lovey-dovey family crap on Voyager...

Speaking for myself, I don't think I can really offer an opinion on which is worse. I watched VOY up to season 6 and the finale originally. I watched about 5 1st season episodes of ENT and then just lost interest with that show. I didn't think either show was especially original. They both seemed like TNG with just superficial changes.

I would say, though, that the worst of the five series is probably one of them, since I love TOS, TNG, and DS9.

Well, I see it, Ghost. I'm totally with you there. Seven and the Doctor were what kept me interested in VOY up to season 6. IMO, they were the strongest elements of that show.
