I've seen portly people on "Star Trek" but obesity in general seems to something that people in the 23rd/24th centuries avoid.

Hopefully by then, people are eating better and the grocery store isn't dominated by high fructose corn syrup products. I imagine replicated food is engineered to be healthy in the extreme.

Starfleet is still a semi-military organization, and like all military branches around the world it requires/demands a certain level of fitness or at least the appearance of fitness. Plus, honestly I hate seeing obese people in starfleet uniforms; it just looks tacky.

rn8814, if you don’t mind me asking – if you consider Star Trek to be in general “very wicked”, why have you signed up on a Star Trek message board, and indeed why do you watch it in the first place?

Also, what does the “Wicked Hollywood Perverts Are Vile And Sick” description you’ve given the thread’s title have to do with the thread or its content?

You mostly see pudgy aliens and yeah I have seen a few human characters as well but they're usually non crew. Remember the fat alien lady who plays this wierd piano that has her own salt lick.

He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it. -Douglas Adams (1952-2001)

You mean something like this?

Er... no thanks. I think it is bad enough to have them as aliens... but in starfleet?

the person who created this thread has alot to learn. People like that is whats wrong with this world today.

Agreed - and the tragedy is that when you study the core concepts of the faith that supposedly drives them, their anger, hatred and vindictiveness is completely alien to the principles that are supposed to underpin their religion.

I am a Christian, myself, and I hear what you're saying. It is a shame, and that is why so many people hate Christians: they see those few ridiculous men who go about acting in un-Godly hate and anger, and they are immediately turned away from Christianity. It is a disgrace.

BTW... I have a feeling that this guy was nothing more than a troll/spammer/whatever. His posts were too ridiculous for even a Christian to believe.

Being overweight is unhealthy and
usually regarded as unattractive ...
and not only by Christians!!!

The only reason it ever became "fashionable"
in Antiquity, was because all but the wealthy
were starving. Plumpness represented prosperity.
But in this Time of Plenty, it's best to stay fit.

I have no idea what this thread is about, but how can you say there were no chunky monkeys on Star Trek when they gave us The USS Montgomery Scott, David Ogden Stiers in a guest role, and Will "Grimace" Riker?

Mostly, who gives a crap, this thread makes no sense.

And the person who made this thread is not what's wrong with society, what's wrong with society is the people who take Star Trek too seriously.

There have been a few larger races in Star Trek. However humans are generally healthier and leaner. Seeing as Starfleet is in some ways a military institution with high standards of intelligence and fitness needed to qualify, it makes sense that it's members would generally be healthy in appearance. Besides who wants to see Lt. Chubby?

When I first saw Kirstie Alley as Saavik, and Lt. Valeris, I had a Lt. Chubby
