Yeah, give it another try. But before you judge it, wait until you're into Season 3. Season 1 isn't too awful, but Season 2 is pretty bad. And Season 3 things will start to pick up more and get better. With the exception of Season 2, every season gets better than the previous season. Which I think is what makes DS9 so good. Season 7 is one of the best seasons of the whole Star Trek franchise. |
You shouldn't have to invest three seasons into a show before it becomes watchable. DS9 is *not* a good series.

Quote: Matthias Russell @ Nov. 05 2010, 4:53 am | I quickly got bored with ds9, preferring to watch Seaquest DSV instead. I also preferred Babylon 5 for a space station story. After seaquest was canceled, I went back to ds9 and liked it. Of course by then, they had better stories and it no longer felt like it was riding a tng wave. |
Pigs in Space was better than DS9, and when I say "Pigs In Space" I don't mean Nemesis

B5 is painful to watch its gives you one theme and then hammers it home a million different ways.

Wow I never knew you could get bored with a Star Trek series. But to each his own I supppose. Pretty much anything with a Star Trek label on it, I'll enjoy for that reason alone.

I thought it was weird. How was it trek without the Enterprise? how is it trek if they aren't going anywhere? I watched a couple episodes and then got bored. I didn't sit down to watch the whole thing till about a year and a half ago. Just finishing season 7 now and am loving having new trek to watch.

I was 8 when DS9 came out. Honestly... I was thinking, they don't GO anywhere. No fighting the bad guys? Then I learned there was still fighting the bad guys.
At 25 I see DS9 as a more thought-provoking series than the rest.

I was 12- and it was a very odd show to me. I did not enjoy the sit and wait for something to happen aspect, and to me it only got interesting when they got the Defiant. That got me hooked.

What were my thoughts? Eager anticipation (due to being a fan of both TOS & TNG) followed by deep disappointment. I could have wept at times, when I wasn't bored to the point of giving up. Gene Roddenberry would be turning in his grave if he knew how this thing developed (even though he was aware of it being created). Yes, Babylon 5 made much better viewing and also showed how to make a show about a fixed space-station interesting and of course The X-Files outshone everything else around throughout the 1990s.
