Have you noticed it never shows a toilet in any series of star trek or them ever referring to having to go to the restroom. I wonder what the toilets of the future look like.

I've noticed that! I guess in the 24th century people don't have to go to the restroom, lol.

ive got the blueprints to the enterprise d and it shows bathrooms on the prints. theres one in picards ready room in the back past the fish tank and replicator and one on the bridge on the left of the door that goes to the observation lounge. Could you imagine sitting on the toilet when the saucer crashed on Veridian 3 and you were thrown out of the bathroom with your pants down. lol

Yes, I can just see Worf, at a critical moment of battle, grunting, eyeing the head, and suddenly bellowing out, ''TOO MUCH PRUNE JUICE!! I MUST GO!!!''

Really, because in a TNG special with Johnathan Frakes, he pointed out, on the ship display in engineering, that there was only one bathroom on the D. one can only imagine the lines for the bathroom on a ship with over a thousand officers and crew on board.

yeah i saw that but the blueprints say otherwise. i think that was meant as a joke. a ship carrying over a thousand people and only one bathroom. i would only hope to use the bathroom before everyone else does.lol

In the Deep Space Nine episode Call to Arms, Rom mentions having to go to Waste Extraction at the end of the scene where they figured out about using replicating mines.

But the only actual toilet I know of in Star Trek is the one in the brig scene in Star Trek V. Remember the scene in the brig when Spock and Kirk are arguing about whether or not Spock has a brother and Kirk says in exasperation "I need to sit down", then pushes a button on the wall and a seat slides out? That seat that Kirk sits on is a toilet. Take a close look. He's just sitting on it with the lid down.

Never thought about it... I do wonder what 24th century toilets look like.

Data Logan, that is the only scene I remember with a toilet explicitly shown.  I'm sure the 23rd/24th century has toilets, but they were just deemed unnecessary to show.

How much do you expect toilet tech to evolve over the next 400 years? That said, the ISS toilet breaks regularly, but it's russian. Fortunately no trek stories involved easing nature or examining stool samples so there was no need to go in depth.

It was mentioned in voyager that bollians had corrosive poops, so I imagine they had interesting needs.

24th Century toilets could theorectically beam excrement out of a person. It would be quite a time saver, jumping immediately to energy conversion, and never having to worry about blocked drains. It would negate metaphors like "drop some asteroids down a black hole" or "fire aft torpedoes."

I wonder why they never devoted a scene or an entire episode to answering this question, since so many people are concerned about it. Maybe it's something than JJ Abrams can add to the next movie?
