OK so I went from Ensign to Rear Admiral in about a week.

Here it is month's later I post almost daily, why has my Rank not increased ?

Hey, wait. This doesn't make sense! Why am I Lieutenant Junior Grade if I only have 41 posts? (As I write this post, I only have 41. I probably have more now)

I'm confuzzled and discombobulated.

In response to LT. CMDR Roboto, You uploaded photos and increased your rank. How many photos did you upload? I uploaded two of my own and saw no "promotion". Is there a minimum number someone needs?

Yes, there is.  I got to lieutenant when I uploaded around 5 photos - until then, I was an ensign.

There is also a minimum number of comments needed, but I have no idea what that might be.

It is kind of a confuzzling system....... I think there should be some kind of amount of time you were an active member before you get promoted or something........ I was a posting machine when I first joined and made it from Ensign to Commander in about a month. 

Not that I have a problem with that, but...... I wasn't here that long before I was a senior officer! 

I have almost 18,000 posts and I'm still an ensign...  I feel like Harry Kim.

Hah. You took less time than I did. But hey, that's what happens when you're in your second last year of school. Things get really busy and you get less and less time to post. *shrugs* I've been here since January and I only have 1377 or so posts. You've been here for less time (I think) and you've got over 2500. Not long until you reach Captain, I think.

You mean like a member has to be active for a month (just as an example) before they can be promoted to (again, as an example) Lieutenant (Junior Grade)? If that make sense...I don't know if I understand what you said.

I'll admit, I was a little confused about the ranking system here... At first. Now I'm used to it. The only reason that I had problems when I first came here was that I'm used to the "system" on Neopets. It's not really a ranking system, but it's a system created by the users where, essentially, the older your account is, the more respect you get. I think it's more of a trust thing. Somebody would be more willing to trust a person like me, with a 66 or so month old account, than a person whose account is only a few days old. It doesn't work like that here and it took me some time to adjust.

I don't mind the ranking system as it is. It's just really biased towards pictures, that's all. You have to have a few pictures to go up in rank.

I find this ranking system very confusing, and I'm starting to find it harder to get time to post because I'm heading into my Senior schooling years! Anyway... I do think the ranking system is very heavily weighing towards the pictures!

I think that part of the code that advances your rank is broken or terribly screwed up. Additionally, the Admins refuse to explain HOW it WORKS. We did not have a ranking system on the old boards, so we made up one.

Recruit  = 0-10
Cadet  = 10 - 250
Petty Officer  = 251 - 500
Chief Petty Officer  = 500 - 1,000
Ensign  = 1,000 - 2,000
Lieutenant Junior Grade  = 2,001 - 4,000
Lieutenant  = 4,001 - 6,000
Lieutenant Commander =  6,001 - 8,000
Commander = 8,001 - 10,000
Captain = 10,001 - 12,000
Commodore = 12,001 - 15,000 
Rear Admiral = 15,001 - 18,000
Vice Admiral = 18,001 - 20,000
Admiral = 20,001 - 25,000
Fleet Admiral = 25,001 - 30,000
Ambassador = 30,001 - 35,000
Ambassador-At-Large = 35,001 - 50,000
Federation Cabinet = 50,001 - 100,000
Federation President = 100,000+

Some argued, that others were increasing their post count by playing games. We have not had a new series to sink our teeth into to have new debates on character development, morals, and other issues relevant to a series. A lot of thing have been discussed before and they will come up again. To generate higher activity means we need more than articles of the past stuff and pretty pics (even though I have posted over 100). I have appreciated the past, but it is time for something new. Movies are okay, but they generate a limited amount of post when a well written series can have activity take off like a rocket.

I say we go with this system unofficially and honor the rank in this post. At least you KNOW how this works and no one can tell you:  no I won't tell you the specific details to increase your rank like
