I'm looking forward to having some questions from book 1 answered. David Mack said we'll learn more about slipstream, section 31, and what happened to commander vaughn. That was one of the big disappointments with book 2, it wasn't REALLY a book 2, there was no continuity like Martin decided he was doing his own thing. As much as I don't like reading about politics, politics are essential to the story, so I hope the next one shows how book 3 relates to a big picture.

Eventually, hopefully, I'd like to see trek novels develop data's resurrection from his memory and personality downloaded in B4, developments among Romulus, Remus, and Vulcan that culminate in the events in Countdown/ ST09, and threat or peace with 8472. I don't expect this in Typhon pact, but hope these stories develop eventually.

It would be nice to see some continuity. Titan novels generally stand alone, but seeing as the series is named "Typhon Pact" it would be great to get some insight into the larger story.

Definitely book 1, I wouldn't recommend book 2. I don't believe it will relate to the rest and was a chore to get through.

Hey let the person decide for themselves.

Even though Book 2 was not so hot, at least the POWERS THAT BE will get a few more centavos to spend on this spectacular website.

On amazon.com both books have 4 of 5 stars. Book 1 has 18 reviews and book 2 has 6 reviews. Why are these readers not on this site? It seems like the site/franchise has a problem when the people who read the books don't come here and the members of the official site don't read. Still, interesting reviews on amazon.

It seems that the majority of posters here are attracted to controversy. Perhaps we should start a "Star Trek 09" novelization thread and see if we can attract some attention.

LOL, but that would mean I'd have to read it. Wait, no it doesn't. It means YOU have to read it and then I talk about how stupid it is without having actually read a word. That's how this sort of thing goes, right?

Generally yes, although at times you mix up the roles, or we agree on the stupidity of something or one of us spends money on an item and the other benefits from the purchaser's largesse.

I'm used to reading these types of series out of order LOL It seems like when I go to get one of the books, the store only has the middle or the last books so I read those and maybe a year or two, three or five I finally get the first or middle books LOL Sometimes I don't even get all of them in the series, but I try

I just finished this book! Wow. I absolutely loved it. I disagree with previous comments about the "explicit" love scene. Obviously these comments were from readers who have never picked up a romance novel. This scene was not explicit at all- and only one in the whole book! PG to PG-13 tops. Can't wait for the next book. The ending -WOW! I read and reread the pages trying to wring additional possible explainations. I guess I am a romantic at heart- I really hope they end up together. But.... do you want to be with someone that could rationalize killing you in your sleep? Makes you think!

I didn't feel the sex scene was too explicit, just that it was more than usual for Trek books (Peter David aside). Mack's explanation definately helped me appreciate its significance. I do want to know when Book 1's loose ends get tied.

First, my thanks to BIGKEN and Ezrian_Bashirax for the kind words. To kmb035, I'm sorry the book wasn't to your liking.

@Ezrian_Bashirax - I, too, was quite moved by the Julian/Sarina story, whose ending struck a chord with me in that it reminded me of events from my youth. I'm happy to hear their relationship as depicted in Zero Sum Game worked for you.

As to your subsequent comment --

"You told me and all of your readers that Sarina really doesn't LOVE Julian. She is just using him, as Section 31 has done in the past."

Did I? I'm not saying you're wrong ... but I'm not saying you're right, either. Re-read those final two pages. Consider every word Sarina says, as well as what she doesn't say. Also take into account that we're seeing that scene filtered through her point of view.

In my opinion, we don't really know what's going on. Maybe she is betraying him, maybe not. You want to know the really sick part?

Even I don't know the answer.

You see, I might not be the next writer to work on that series or with those characters. The editor who commissioned that book was  laid off before it was finished; the editor who saw it through production has left S&S; the next editor might have a new idea for the whole book line and its ongoing story arcs. I have no idea what will happen next, and I was asked not to tie the hands of the next author or editor.

I know what I think happened. Am I right? We'll just have to wait and see.

As for Kira... that will be answered in David R. George III's upcoming novel, Rough Beasts of Empire.

This sounds to me one of those, "it looks like she is betraying him to 31, but really loves him, and then in the end or some big battle or fight, she'll sacrifice herself for him, and that will make him "good again" or have him stop being apart of 31". Or something like that.

Personally, I don't care. Those last pages with Sarina and the 31 Operative were AWESOME. My mouth was open as I was reading. A great end to a great novel.

Btw, When will Captain Dax and the Aventine have their own set of novels in the ST Universe??

I vote for David Mack to write those. ;-D

As for the Bashir book. Great insight on the Breen. As a race, they make sense now. I really really hope that Bashir as an intellegence agent sets the stage for the return of the strongest DS9 character......Garak.....Only Garak can save Bashir from himself and take down Section 31 once and for all!

The Titan was good too. I like the Gorn a lot now.

I am in the middle of "Rough Beasts" I love the Spock part, but HATE the Sisko part. Sisko is a family man first, he would NEVER do this. I like where Kira is, but somebody better explain the Acedency thing. I don't like unresolved stories.
