What/who do think the Sigma Iotians are imitating now?

It's been a while since the Enterprise left there. Are they still in 1920's mobster mode? What if somebody left a copy of the Star Wars trilogy behind too.

When the DS9 creators were trying to come up with a fitting 30th anniversary episode (the result was Trials and Tribbleations) one of the ideas they bounced around was a return to that planet. It would have been funny, but not as funny as the classic episode they ended up adding to.

What they were thinking of was a planet of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy imitators. Basically a planet of Star Trek fans! I believe that could very well be possible. It would have been interesting, but what they did is and forever will be, golden.

So no one's going to comment on the Star Wars trilogy thing? Kinda surprises (and disappoints) me. I'm burned out on the whole ST v. SW routine; who's got better technology, who'd win in an epic battle, how long would a red shirt last on the Death Star, stuff like that. I made that last one up. This is Star Wars as seen through the eyes of a Star Trek fan. Could be interesting.

2ndGenTrekkie, thanks for the factoid, that's pretty cool. I'm glad they went with the tribbles. That was an awesome show! Although I still saw a lot of Trelane in Koloth.

madmartian72 - that's a toughie. i'll openly admit that that very first live action movie i ever saw was Star Wars, and for most of my life I was enamored with SW. I pretty much know everything there is to know about SW. And now ST.

It's really hard to compare SW and ST tech with each other. GR meant ST to be a possible future for us, while GL made SW into a plainly a scifi/fantasy series.

So while SW could go all crazy with tech, it seems ST tried to keep it more reasonable. However, they both had different ideas of the food replicator. And ST has transporter technology.

And on the question of who would win, sorry for being a turncoat, but SW hands down. Their ships are bigger and have more turbolasers. And they have starfighters, not just clunky shuttles.
