Exactly, it would be near impossible to date someone under your command

Well . . . there are a lot of executives who leave their wives for their secretaries. But that would be like Janeway/Kim.

That's true. I'm just saying that a Janeway/Kim romance wouldn't be THAT shocking. Hmmmm, I should start that thought the next time Janeway/Seven comes up.

Whao whao whao! willow seems to be taking over the forum
continuouly pressing apon the point that janeway made it clear she would not have a relationship with chak, which was true however as captian there was a need to keep things professional, how she felt about him personally was a different matter, it was quite obvious that they had a close relationship, so it was natural for the viewers (MOSTof us anyway) to expect a J/C relationship
Now obviously I dont exspect to change the mind of others, we will just have to agree to disagree
just know that your wrong

I would also say that traditionally a Captain would need to be above the fray by not courting underlings as Picard learned in "Lessons" but facing a multi-generational journey and possibly not making it home, she needed to face the fact that she may not make it home and had "needs". Janeway is a family person and I would expect her to want to have a family. I think she showed her need for companionship in "Fair Haven" and who got flirty with her about her holo-relationship? Chakotay.

I definately agree that anyone would get lonely and have needs, but in Janeway's case I think it would be even worse to hook up with someone under her command becuae you can't get away from them. If picard fell in love witht someone they could possibly both agree to switch assignements be on different ships or something like that. They had lots of options. Janeway not so much. Even in the seventh season she stll said that she couldn't have a relationship with someone under her command

ahhhh so we meet yet again, nemesis, one with many words of which very little makes sense
we know Janeway said (for professional reasons) she cannot have a relationship with anyone under her command, I assure no one is disputing that fact, we are merely saying J/C clearly had a close relationship. So of anyone to have a relationship with Chak, the last person we expected was seven.
I personally was expecting a J/C relationship, and when I suddenly saw that seven and Chak were an item I rewatched previous episodes thinking I missed somthing, I didnt

If Janeway is going to have a relationship with anyone, Chakotay makes the most sense (other than Neelix). He isn't Starfleet so no risk of breaking regs and he answers ONLY to her and is only out ranked by her so she remains matriarch and he patriarch. So their is no shifting in social rank either.

I never said they weren't close. Clearly they were, simply by the fact that he often just called her Kathryn. And they had dinners together. So clearly theren was a deep friendship there.
If they didn't make it home and were in the DQ for another decade and C/7 never happened maybe eventually they would have hooked up. But at the point Janeway was at durring the show, a romantic relationship was unlikely. so Chakotay instead of being the pathetic guy who pines away for the woman who continually rejects him, went and found someone else. good for him.
Lets also remember that in the alternate future with Admiral Janeway, it was 30 years after they got home and Janeway was still single. She may just not be one to be in a a relationship.

*sigh* ok you started off making me laugh but now your becoming quite annoying, for the reason that you dont understand the point im making and running away with your own ideas, creating fantasy situations, which is not what im about.
Iv explained this to you before and I really dont know how much more I can simplify my point.
Myself and many other people as viewers saw J/C had a close relationship
we expected this relationship to be taken further as apposed to the C/7 thing.
THATS IT! there is NO right or wrong about it. why? because it is simply our OPINION.
and I didnt say that you said they are not close, you came up with that idea yourself and yes I know Chak called her Katherine and that they had dinners together, as I did watch the show, but thank you for those pieces of info all the same
"If they didn't make it home and were in the DQ for another decade" ??
your taking the point I was making and turning it into a fantasy situation, which as I previously said, is not what im about, so I really cant bother to reply to that, as it is out of subject

you kept misunderstanding what I was saying, so I tried to explain to you what I meant and highlighted the points you took incorrectly
