The first time I watched the series I was so angry about the whole c/7 thing! I couldn't believe they would go in that direction and it made no sense at all to me.
However, after debating the issue with some c/7 fans, I now understand where it came from, but I still hate it. I'm a J/Cer all the way!
I like everybody, even the people I don't like. They make things interesting. ;)

i can clear this up. the romance was supposed to have been seven and janeway. see, that's where they were going but just couldn't...quite...get...there.

Wanting to see romance between 2 women doesn't make it a reality. Even if, IF, Janeway were lesbian, Seven had the emotional maturity of a child making it like a relationship with a mentally handicapped person. For the this reason, both chakotay and janeway make no sense.

your logic removes the fun from the thread. i disagree with you, though. they didn't write seven to have the emotionality of a child. despite obvious social deficiencies, her mental abilities to process emotion were not compromised. they were rigid and different, since they had developed in a different culture; but seven was fully developed. yessss.

Fully developed? That's an understatement. She was borg enhanced! I had a friend who called her the double Ds of D deck.

Chakotay and Seven of Nine together was just asinine. Why spend the majority of the show developing the Janeway/Chakotay thing just to abandon it at the very end of the last season. It was simply lame (my opinion)
So this dyslexic walks into a bra...

Seven of nine did explore her emotions on the holodeck and Chakotay was her choice of suitable mate. Between that and end game there is little linkage and the relationship rushed, for sure. In terms of writing it was too much of a leap for audiences.

That the the no 1 rushed relationship in star trek history. You'd almost think someone had drawn two random names from a hat. Where did that come from? Chakotay and seven hardly spoke 3 sentences to each other beforehand!

I don't think he ever grew to fully trust her either. In the relaunch books he starts dating janeway and seven becomes like a daughter to him. That made sense.

I thought that 7 and Tuvok would have been more ..... logical.
yea, yea - he was married, but they could have changed that.

Infidelity would be illogical.

Bad idea, that spawned one of Treks worst episodes ever.
If you can read this it means I've got something to work on here.

correct, but they could have said that Tuvok's wife was killed in an accident or something. (I'm trying to remember when we first found out that Tuvok was married.)

I thought it was a very poor random quick thing to do by the writers thinking that the fans would like it...well we didn't. Chakotay should of ended up with Janeway they had spark, magic, intense chemistry and you could tell it was felt on both sides. |
I agree! There relationship was so platonic and it came from no where too, Chakotay has a stronger relationship with Janeway and I think it had more to do that Janeway wasn't as attractive as Seven; that they tryed to stir up the plot. Janeway also appeared a lot older, I can remember in an episode where the crew had their memories erased that she was paired up with an older gentleman but that didn't work out. There was also that episode where Janeway created a holographic character named o'brian where she later fell in love with, not much to say about that?
Never let me slip, cause if I slip, then I'm slippin.

Exactly. I'm not sure on this but didn't this happen because Beltran wanted some romance before the series was over? |
They had paris and b'lanna for this. But I guess no one wants to see married people get romantic? |
My understanding is that it was some kind of a dare, because Jeri Ryan was dating one of the producers at the time. I also heard that Robert Picardo took offense to the whole C/7 thing because he felt for once the bald not so attractive guy should have gotten the babe.
