Hello Everyone,
I'm am disapointed that they would make a new Star Trek sequal to the 2009 movie without addressing what happend in Nemesis. Data died and his "dumb clone" recieved all of Data's "files" that were download into the clone. At the end, you hear him signing the song Data was singing at the begining. What I think Star Trek writters should do, is to continue with the Data's story and integrate the alternate reality change into it. For example, As the Clone Data begings to "become" Data, the alternate reality "wave" catches up to Picard's ship and crew. Clone Data somehow sub-conciously knows that this new reality is wrong in some fashion and is not sure why. As he continues to strugle to regain all his functions and programing, the Federation in this new reality is again at war with (Klignons, Borg or Romulans). With the federation almost in sambles because of the new reality (meaning that since the Volcans are so few now, they did not support the Humans as they would of had in the old reality), their ship in the middle of a fight gets badly damaged. They start to drift towards a very unusual black hole and get suck in...as this is happening, Clone Data BECOMES Data once again and remembers everything. Through some kind of calculation while being sucked in, Data remembers the old reality as well and figures out how to return to that very point. Then as the Enterprise gets sucked into the black hole, they emerge right in front of the other Enterprise...just before the enemy ship launches the Red matter into Volcan. The fight continues with both crews and ships....what happens next, I'll leave it to the writter.
Now THAT is a deeper Trek film with LOTS of actions,,,Picard with young Kirk, can you think of anything better that this type of Double packed action sequal!!!!!!

I've seen a lot of ideas for the sequel, so far.
I'm glad none of them will be hitting the screen.
J.J. has to make lightning strike twice here, and
I don't envy him, that. But he has a fantastic cast.
One thing I'm confident of is that he won't be relying
on convention for ideas. It's going to be a fun ride.

Im not sure if JJ will even have that much to do with it. He has a habit of starting strong and finishing weak. He still hasnt decided if hes going to direct the sequel or not.

Yes it does, but rather history changing because the old Enterprise passed thru a vortex, we see picard talking with B4 (picking up where it left out) and suddenly "RED ALERT" this massive wall of time distortion approches the ship...even at high warp in any direction, the ship can't out run it. As the ship get evenlopped, (as is Yesturday's Enterprise) ther're at war...
The twist is this...B4 realizes tht something is wrong. The time distortion somehow alters his neural net and he now able to process all of Data's memories. But one thing Data did during the transfer was to implant an executable that would make B4's memories wiped-out and Data's conciousnes returns.
Now while fighting, the Enterprise is completely different (shape, systems etc) but the fight is against the Romulans because of what happend in Star Trek 2009 movie. The Federation along with the Kligons fight the romulans, but its a losing battle. As they fight, the Romulans give a daring blow to the Enterprise and it swings out of control...heading right for this very strange "black hole". Data...now aware of his old memories, becomes aware of the old reality, and finally realizes the that the time line has been tampered with and changed.
As the ship loses system after system...being torn apart piece by piece by the "black hole" as they drift closer and closer, Data suddenly knows what he must do. Him and Geordi head to whats left of Engineering and come up with a way to use this very bizzare black hole (bizzare because it is balck hole that is in out of phaze with normal time and matter...but somehow they can actually get a clear ready of what lies in the very center...something no one was able to do before). The formulate a plan and Picard approves..now they head in!
As the Enterprise heads in...we see multiple realities appearing, as if hundreds and thousands of alternate realities suddenly start overlaping one on top of another. Yet only Data is aware and can see this very bizzare action taking place. As the ship reaches the very center, a massive flash of light appears and there they are...in the middle of another fight...but this time, Picard's Enterprise find itself along side young Kirk's Enterprise. Now both ships fight to stop the Red matter from hitting Volcan...
Do they succeed and restore the normal time line, or do they fail...
I would love to see how this would fair as the new Star Trek movie

Unfortunately I think you're trying to please the die hards here. Audiences are going to want to see the new crew and not any of the TNG crew for a while at least.
There's no easy way in, that's why they send Marines in.
Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem.

I have always wanted to see a (gasp) CROSSOVER MOVIE. I don't see it happening on the big screen (at least not in JJ's venue, anyway), but one never knows.

Thank god they don't let fans write the movies...and thankfully Star Trek is not a democracy.

The three stooges are savvy enough to keep it limited to a basic buddy action movie loaded with special effects. That's the best bet for return on investment. This new board format makes me feel drunk.

At least DJBASS is a TNG fan!
As for making a movie with Picard and Kirk together,
I've already seen it. Let's not go down that road, again!
As for JJ not directing the sequel,
I'm confident he will. His hands were
tied keeping a balance between pleasing
old and new fans, in the first one. For
the next one, the characters are free to
do, whatever. And he can finally make "his"
movie. Just turn off the lens flare this time!
