Resurrecting Data

I love Data.  He's possibly my favouriute character, and I was pretty sad when he was killed off in Nemesis.

However, B-4 offers the possibility of Data staying "alive", as he contains all Data's memories and they were beginning to resurface at the end of the film.

That raises the question: What happened next?

I like to imagine that Data's memories took over and he was basically resurrected, then became Picard's first officer and lived happily ever after.

In the comic, Star Trek: Countdown, which revolves around the events of the destruction of Romulus, Data, ressurected in B4 is the Captain of the Enterprise E.

I thought that if they had another TNG movie,
B-4 would've been Brent's way of "rebooting"
his discoveries into humanity. The memories
Data gave him were just there to evolve B-4
just enough, so he didn't have to keep playing
him as "mentally challenged". But it was meant,
I thought, to replace Data.

I don't think Spiner wants to play data anymore does he? He is getting older and since data doesn't age, there comes a point where he can't be old data. If the books satisfy your data needs, "the needs of the many"documents his resurrection in b-4. Its really moving and the best part of the book, worth it just for that part. It gives you respect for b-4.

Data Lives In B4, i think history repeats its self. We Saw there was no way of killing off spock. So if there was to be another movie after Nemesis we would see data again. He may have some glitches but he would be Data.

Still must give props, as the young ones today say, to ''Countdown''. TNG without Data? NAH...well, at least in books and fanfic. I would say I prefer a straight-out reboot of Data's full persona, as seems in what the comic excerpts I saw had, to a B-4 evolution....but, that said, his brother could have been-Spiner age issues aside-a character with potential, though.

Data is dead and should stay that way. B4 should be recalled by the manufacturer.

I was a bit disappointed in the way they decided to handle Data's death. Same for Kirk and Tasha Yar. (What it is with TNG that they can't do a death properly?) But I've never been in favor of bringing a character back just because the death wasn't handled well, Kirk included. So I say leave him be.

Since Data was TNG's Spock (the logical, emotionless non-human character), it seems fitting that he should be resurrected. In the unlikely event that they ever reboot TNG (in TV or movie form), it won't be the same without Data, and the writers knew that (hence B-4).

Only problem with resurrecting Data is going to be that, at this point, Brent Spiner is going to be believable as immortal as Christopher Lambert........

pfffft, you can't begin to compare the 2. Data lost his head and simply reattached it. Besides when it comes to data, there can be only one!

No problem with someone else playing data. It could allow him to grow by trying to exist as another species. However, do you think he ever would change his appearance drastically? His face is a link to his family and I think that would be important to him. Would you be cavalier about removing your facial traits that link you to your family?

There's only one Data: Nobody could play him as well as Spiner.
I know Spiner doesn't want to play the role any more, but they're never going to make any more TNG movies anyway. I don't think Data would ever change his appearance drastically (I can maybe imagine him painting himself blue and sprouting antennae or something, but not a whole new face).

Come on you Data fans, thought no-one else could play Spock and there you go its Zach Quinto, And Kirk is now Chris Pine and Karl Urban McCoy. If you want your character back - you may have to make some tough adjustments because I heard Spiner doesn't want to play him anymore. However I suppose Shatner thought that after 'GENERATIONS' and now he wants back in, so wait a few more years and Spiner may be ready. As for aging, they covered that in the last episode of TNG didn't they? He artificially aged himself so he wouldn't look creepy to the humans around him. Problem solved. And don't start me on how good an engineer Geordi is. As good as the writers want him to be in any episode. Besides, he has Data/B4 to help him and Data created Lal.

Spiner didnt wanna play him becuase he said he looked to old to be data and data didnt artificially age himslef he added gray to his hair

If they ever bring him back,
Data should be a CG character,
voiced over by Brent Spiner.
Problem solved.
