I think it should wait till the film trilogy concludes.
One of Treks issues(though fans loved it) with the mainstream
was "oversaturation" and I feel trying to push another TV
series out while the films are still gaining momentum could
almost be too much. Let the films garner attention and
rebuild public interest in the franchise and then bring
a series out for those who end up sticking around for the
long run.

A SERIES ON THE ENTERPRISE-B WOULD BE COOL IF THEY COULD GET ALAN RUCK. IF NOT BRING IN A NEW CAPTAIN.
THERE IS A LOT OF GOOD STORY LINES THERE. ACCORDING TO TREK-CANON, ENTERPRISE-B MAPPED A LOT OF STARFLEET TERRITORY.

I'd love to see this. Always thought the ENT-B never got it's due and
the Lost Era novel featuring it was really good. Plus it would make a
logical jumping in point for a new series, not confusing people too
much going from the "original" Enterprise of the new films by jumping
all the way to post-TNG Trek, and would still be ina totally new era
for Trek fans to enjoy onscreen filling in the history of an interesting
period.

I would LOVE IT! Shotgun on playing the Captian ;oP haha. I have never played Sar Trek Online, because it's only for online and I can't afford that, so correct me if I am wrong, but is it not set in the future (Star Trek future, I already know it's set on OUR future lol)? If so, it might be a cool idea to either pick up cast members from TNG, DS9 and VOY and show how it all gets to the STO point? Or even set a new series in the STO era.

There are no limitations to the Star Trek Universe. I'm pretty sure there will be many more Star Trek series and movies after were all gone. Live long and proper.

As a matter of fact, if B4 fully assimilates all of Datas memories, wouldn't that be "The Return of Data - Star Trek XI?

Quote: Dendodge @ Aug. 22 2010, 10:55 am | I would like to see a new series. If they make one, it would probably have to come after the TNG era, as the rest of the timeline has been covered. In order to introduce new species, they would probably have to come up with some way to travel between galaxies, unless they decide to show us some more of the gamma and delta quadrants. Another possibility is an Abramsverse TOS remake (hopefully this time they'll be able to finish their five years). |
At the risk of ruffling some "purist" feathers here, I agree with the above poster. With the success of ST 2009, if any serious consideration is given to another TV series, it will probably be patterned after the most recent feature film. That would not necessarily be a bad thing. Perhaps the series could take up right where the film left off. Hmmm?
Um, I'll come up with an interesting quote later. :P

I'd love to see a 25th Century Star Trek. My take on the next Trek if I were doing it? I'd love to see a Hispanic captain with an absolutely stunning half Romulan/half Betazoid first officer. It would be awesome to have a Cardassian Chief Engineer who gets crunk of Kanar. A Bajoran Chief Medical Officer who constantly bickers with the chief engineer. A Deltan Chief of Security who's a workout buff & martial arts enthusiast. A Risan conn officer who was a dabo girl in her teen years. A human chief of operations officer who is hiding that she's half Vulcan. A Russian transporter chief, a Chinese older technology expert, and a head nurse who just happens to be an expert on Starfleet history.
The ship will be the largest ever, Absolution-Class starship that makes the secondary hull more like an O'Neil space colony with atmosphere and a city like environment than a starship. The primary hull is more traditional with a starship like atmosphere. There are holoemitters on every part of the ship and there are special guest holographic crew. Lastly, the computers also have a mental interface so that crew members with advanced telepathy & mental abilities can interact with the computer with a high speed interface. All stations are virtualized holostations, with a battle bridge like physical stations in-case of malfunctions. The ship has quantum slipstream drive, transwarp drive, standard warp drive, new super impulse drive capable of low warp speeds, has two engineering sections for each hull, and has a tactical defense operations mode that brings out more phaser and quantum torpedo weapons. Each section of the ship has easy swap modules that can change the ships equipment at a starbase.
Those are just a few ideas. CBS or Paramount, if you ever need someone to help create the bible, characters, & script, call/email me. I have a ton of great ideas! L.L.A.P.!

I really hope there will be another series, but I want it made by a fan and not, I repeat NOT the fools who controlled the last series or even Voyager. People like Rick Berman Ruined Star Trek for the fans. I watched first the Original then STNG, DS9, and a few Voyager episodes. But Rick continued to run away any professional science fiction writers who were fans of the original and could have made Star Trek the best series on TV. But he and others made it into a crappy show. I hope if a new series appears we get another ship and crew (please God no Enterprise). Also, no rip off of "lost in space" aka Voyager. Just a new starship that takes into account that many races will be violent and please no damn French captains. Most captains actually have to be tough and respected by the fans. I was so pissed when STNG started and we had a great actor but terrible character. A politically correct, gutless french captain. Still keeping my fingers crossed for a tough and cool trek.
Never was a fan of Voyager or Enterprise but did watch a few. The rest of the series' were pretty good, the original was the best.

The latest ST movie I liked, but sorry Eric Bana, your take on a bad guy sucked. In general too many effects and not enough classic ST gritty dialogue and resounding moral tales.
