And since Ocampa have 9 year lifespans, kes is dead of old age or became a god like creature. She is gone for good.

Oh no, not at all! Kes is alive and well with a prolonged lifespan.

As for the "Relaunch Books", those written by Christie Golden are acceptable, the rest of them are horrible. Just the idea of annihilating Janeway is disgusting.

Janeway is with the Q, she can return like Sisko. STO sets up that she returns. Besides, I liked the way her death was set up. She felt indestructible because she felt she had a destiny and a set time to die, the Q tried to warn her but she didn't listen. Besides, it seems realistic that at least one of the captains dies prematurely. The Kristen Beyer books are excellent, and it is nice to see chakotay getting his due development.

I have to disagree here. I don't like the direction of the books and I don't like that Janeway was killed off. So far we haven't seen any trace of a Janeway comeback. As for Chakotay, I do see the risk that the Chakotay/Seven thing might be dug up again.

True, seven and chakotay may hook back up but it would be more realistic with janeway gone and with the growth and maturity seven has underwent. Janeway isn't going to return 5 books later, sisko didn't either but don't count her out. The fleet now is without an admiral, Q could bring her back in the books and there would be a logical place for her. Besides, sometimes people we admire die before their time. Shackleton, Cook, Magellon, and many others did. The premature death sometimes further defines a character and provides a stronger legacy than dying old in your bed.

I've heard that Breyer's books are excellent. However, the news of Janeway's death crushed me to the point that I actually lost interest in Voyager. Not only haven't I read the books, I really don't watch the series anymore. My attitude is very narrow minded and self serving, but I just can't help the way I feel. Hopefully there will be a Janeway comeback at some point and if I think the story will interest me I'll pick it up again. But for now I've moved on to other things.

Characters die. That is the way of the fictional universe. The relaunch books gave Janeway an out by sending her "soul" to be with the Q continuum, which considering her help that was the least they could do.
The point is to enjoy long story lines and not retreat from the story as it progresses.

I find it hard to enjoy long story lines when my favorite characters are destroyed and/or killed off and replaced by uninteresting no-no's. I like the Voyager characters and when I read a Voyager book, I want to read about Janeway, Chakotay, Kes, Tuvok etc, not read about them being killed off and replaced by characters I don't care about. In fact, I rather re-read "The Black Shore" (great book!) for the umpteenth time than buy one of those books where my favorites are destroyed. For me, the annihilation of Janeway was the final straw when it comes to "official Star Trek". I did have some hope about the relaunch books being able to correct some of the stupidities from the series but instead it has turned out to become something even worse. So I've learned that if I want a new, good Voyager story to read, then I have to write it myself!

I liked Jadzia and Tasha but I kept watching.

Janeway. Janeway would want us all to carry on. And I know . . . I know she's up there in the continuum right now looking down on us and guiding Voyager between the lines. And when we mentally walk the decks of Voyager, we can feel her presence there, smiling, pushing us forward, and wishing she had gotten a piece of Chakotay.

The funny thing is that I completely agree with you. I just got caught up with Voyager for all the wrong reasons. I loved the Janeway/Chokotay relationship and read a ton of fan fiction in that regard. So my idea of where the story should have gone is completely different from the direction it actually took and I have a hard time reconciling that. It's strictly my personal preference and has nothing to do with whether the books/story line is well written or not.

I for one would love a STV movie. I don't consider myself a trekkie, but Voyager just appealed to me since I was 9 years old. Other ST series seemed to be a regurgitation of sci-fi mumbo jumbo, but at age 9 I could follow along every night with Voyager.  I loved the depth and range of all the characters. Some episodes actually made me cry and some made me burst out in laughter even from characters such as seven of nine. I would love to see a film possibly with the characters after they're arrival to earth. Maybe they're sent on another mission and there's a reunion? I don't know, but a STV movie would be great!

They could go back and save Neelix who transmitted a distress message over some subspace carrier band. The remaining Talaxians living inside the asteroid are getting attacked by some enemy (wondering Borgs, Hirogen hunters, whatever...) and since Neelix is officially a Star Fleet ambassador, they are only too happy to embark on this rescue mission (now that they control a space conduit that didn't blow-up on the Endgame episode) and anything can happen again..!  :-)

I read a book a year or so ago...I thought it would make a good movie.  You know, Voyager made it home. 7 was teaching.  A new planet eater is on the way.  The female Q tries to save Janeway, who in all foolishness boards a Borg cube that appears to be dead, only to be consumes and assimulated into something new!  In the end, does Janeway die or become a Q herself, and what about that mystery officer working with that other Starfleet officer who was some kind of hero from his planet and a good friend of Picard...somehow that book brought in a lot of Star Trek Characters, was exciting, kept  you reading and ended really well...for the "new Borg" had an escape plan.....wish I could remember that title, the cover had 7 on it......
