Sigh. I really wanted this board to be free of political rancor.
But since we're here, Obama is an idiot. He's a cheat, a liar, a Muslim, not born in this country, and has done more damage in his 3.5 year term than any president before him.
Bush was an idiot too.
Throw them all out, throw the tax code out, and start over.

Take a look at Star Trek.... a lot of politics that Roddenberry took on. He may not have been as direct as some of us, but he still did it. Politics is a reflection of choices people make - some good and some bad. History is replete with examples across the spectrum and we should learn from them.

Obama himself said that if he couldn't fix things in his first term that He doesn't deserve a second term. I say lets do what the man said and kick him out of office. I love how people rally around one person as a save all for everything, folks, WE THE PEOPLE will be the solution, not a leader, not a president, The presidents have forgotten that they WORK FOR US!!!!

I consider myself a Technocrat. Like with many things, I feel disappointed by the general level of discourse amongst Trekkies. I would think we should all hold ourselves to somewhat high standards when in comes to science education, social justice and racial integration. Blaming President Obama for anything going on in the economy is as foolish and misinformed as blaming President Bush. We are reaping the long term results of automation combined with the fact that we had a World Trade Center-sized hole punched in our economy, and that is a result of a chain of events going back at least to the seventies.
Skaal!

The only thing that can keep the Aristicracy in Check is Fear of the Mob. What a coincidence that we are all divided into opposing camps focused on one another instead of the grifters at the top of the system. They want us bickering about marginal tax margins and whether or not the inevitable is real, they want us to be good little fat consumers, scarred witless with threats to our imaginary economy while our masters still somehow manage to reap massive profits. Join no Party or Faction, Swear Loyalty to No One. We are all just animals pretending to be Human Beings, even Mitt Romney has to stop and take a dump every now and then, just like any mud-worm living at the bottom of the sea. Stop taking everything so seriously- we are the pinnacle of the Mammalian Dream

You do realize that with more technology comes more jobs, right? Just because someone loses their job to some automation, overall (macro,) there are actually more jobs.
But you are partially right - there is a chain of events, but it goes back much further - to the ProRegressive policies a century ago - we just keep making it worse and worse.

So now that the UN is wanting to do global redistribution of wealth...., "tapping" those evil rich countries - especially the USA - making it pay it's fair share to counties that don't produce. Right now, it's on the provisional agenda (soon to be finalized) under the title, "World Economic and Social Survey 2012: In Search of New Development Finance".
I wonder how many of the Obama worshippers who support him and his redistribution of wealth (stealing) ideology will support this when they realize that even the poorest of those in the USA is considered rich compared to most of the rest of the world....

That's not how the power hungry want it.... they want power, not accountability. Anyway, I'm a citizen of a state and country, not the world. I already hate it that the UN's is funded so heavily by the USA (about 22% the last I read) - almost twice the next country and more than the vast majority of the rest of the world... COMBINED! (And then the UN complains about the US not contributing even more.)

Exactly like the ProRegressives think .... steal from the producers and enslave everyone else using that money. It's not right globally.... or at any other level.

Anyone else see the report on how much taxpayer dollars it kept to keep the Obama's happy in the White House?????
In 2011...... $1.4 BILLION just to pay the expensive expenses of Obama, family & staff.
Oh, and just for comparison - The House of Windsor's expenses only cost UK taxpayers $57.8 million.
