Is Spock a detective now? I suppose, from his character, he has a fascination for knowledge and answers and probably tries harder than other Vulcans because he is only half.

I knew that I had heard the quote before when it told to me by "ALot'47", about the quote Spock used was originally the quote of "Sherlock Holmes."

Recognise this?

"When you have eliminated the possible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

Are there any re-used quotes or borrowed ideas that ST has in it?

Bound to be plenty, but what are they?

That "Sherlock Holmes" quote is from STAR TREK VI: The Undiscovered Country. It was put there by Nick Meyer, because it amused him. Nobody can deny that he had played an important part in making STAR TREK successful, but I couldn't stand that penchant of his -- the over-use of Shakespeare and literary references. It only comes off as lazy writing, at best, and being pompous and pretentious, at worst. It does neither the classics, nor STAR TREK any service by mixing the two, in my opinion.
