I still have my hopes, fingers crossed, hopeing they can make it right this time, with a good intellegnt script, which totaly lacked in the last film.

i agree with you there, but as you and i both know, they're just going to mess it up again.

New poster with my two cents.
Personally I look forward to any new Star Trek movie. Being an old fart from 1963. I can’t say I remember the first run of TOS, (although my older brother says I watched them). But know I’ve been a fan since the early ’70 reruns. I’m sure someone can tell me when syndication began.
When I finally accepted the timeline change of the XI movie I came to believe this is a good direction to keep the franchise alive. Not to say I have an easy time with the virtual fact that everything I have watched up to now is all gone? Keep moving forward with it. Paramount. Bring back Kirk, Picard, Borg whatever? Can’t be done in the current timeline, sans cameo time displacement. But that is a subject for another topic.
I say do the 3-D version. Just don’t do the “stick in you eye” stuff. Use 3-D for depth and realism, A.K.A. Avatar.
I love Star Trek and it’s forward look on future life.
That’s my two cents. Adjusted for inflation from 1972 maybe I should say that is my two quadrillion cents.

I would trade ST. for the "Hobbit" movie to be filmed here in NZed in a heartbeat. Peter Jackson for new director of ST. anyone? LOL!

It's strange, being a catalyst for things that move outside.

Well, I'd prefer a new series based in the Prime Universe, but that probz won't be happening anytime soon. So I am welcoming the prospect of a new movie...

Maybe there won't be a David or even a Khan in the new timeline.

This will possibly happen no matter how much has been changed. It was a pivotal event in Kirk's life as the Captain of Enterprise. In most time/reality manipulation stories for science fiction, certain things need to happen no matter any change in the past to benefit the future. The movie Butterfly Effect is one example of time (or dimension) manipulation. It seems to hover over all science fiction writers as a plot device to revision an old story. Ofcourse this is all hearsay opinion. I hope Khan returns to ensue havoc and death upon Enterprise. Wrath of Khan was my favorite ST movie.

I don't see how he can meet Carol in the new timeline. He was instructing at the Academy between ship postings, not captain of a five-year-mission when he met her. I don't think they should bother with David in this timeline, not if they want rachet back Kirk's age for everything and have him devoting his life to the Enterprise at what, 25?
