CO_Fowler,

I'm actually starting to get a little annoying that there are 5 pages of posts in both this and the Technical Issues thread and I haven't seen anyting from the admins regarding fixing these issues. Not a word, not even a "thank you, Our team is currently working on the problem." It's kind of like they offered this thread, and now we're talking to ourselves. It's not a one on zero conversation, it really should be a one on one conversation. I know there are a number of issues, but we're almost a week into it and I haven't seen anything that's been done.

After the last few days, just knowing I'm actually logged in, I consider it a good start. When things are actually working right, I'll be happy.

Cracks me up, people are complimenting me on my boards (which I appreciate) and I'm not a programmer by any stretch, and using free software...while a site and boards set up by a multi-million dollar corporation are having fits...

Quite telling, isn't it?

Since when does Admin/TPTB listen to us members? If we say things like "Great job!" "Keep up the great work!" "You are always right!" THEN they listen to us. But if we complain or try to offer suggestions, that have ended up working on other MBs, then we're being insufferable 'know-it-alls' who can't keep their mouths shut. And how dare we even suggest that TPTB/Admin might not know something.

Well, we don't know if the new admin team is like that yet or not, Fowler. With the exception of the most recent team on the old site/boards, the admin teams have always been at least willing to listen to the members, especially if they have experience in certain areas. With all the fires they've been having to put out, they've barely had a chance to say hello to us yet.

I'm willing to give them the benefit of doubt, but so far I am not impressed by the Admins posting & pinning two topics and then not even a 'by your leave' after.

Even a small reply from Admin saying something like "We are reading all of the replies. Thank-you for bringing these problems to our attention" or something like that would be a nice acknowledgment for us anyway.

They've actually made some progress comments on the official Facebook page...though yes, an encouraging word would be good here too.

Goodie for them posting on the fb page, but what about here? And the members here that might not either have liked the fb page, don't go to the fb page that often or don't have fb can't see those postings. Just playing Devil's Advocate, now ::winks::

-The older format was better and easier to use and read which made it distinctive from other "sci-fi" sites.
-Extra emoticns are needed especially in the female gender
-Has the "new post" feature remained, or has it gone?
-Is there no discreet pm system anymore?

That is so far. LOL!

My suggestions - essentially a copypasta of the things that would get a "yes" vote from me:

1. Full WYSIWYG editor
2. Allow users to edit their posts
3. Forum searches
4. Links to go directly to the last post or page in a thread
5. Links to the most recent posts on the forum
6. A PM system

Another suggestion: allow users to set the time for their time zone - including daylight savings time - rather than only displaying the time for the servers' time zone. This would make it easier to know who posted when.

STAR TREK CULINARY ART SECTION! Including everything from fan-based Vulcan Plomeek soup to drinks used in Quark's Bar at the STAR TREK EXPERIENCE, in past years. With Pictures and spelled out, measured ingredients. I think it would be really neat, seeing how far real-life cuisine has gone to imitate art - in this case, that of STAR TREK. People LOVE to EAT and I think it would be very popular, seperate and apart from the boards.

One other thing I miss from the original site is being able to move the cursor over the topic title before I click to open it and being able to see when the topic was started. That is a great thing for us to see just how old the topic is or how long it's been going on for.

I didn't even know about that function!

I love it! It'd be nice if they had it over here

Beting able to edit our posts should be a hell of a lot higher on the techguy's priorities than posting members being able to post images.

Agrred.

It's strange, being a catalyst for things that move outside.

Add the following option. Ban Somerled everytime he reports someone. Seriously, this guy has been banned multiple times on the previous board for causing problems.
