Well, shoot me, but my all time favorite sequence in a Trek movie has to be the inside of V/GER. The long flyover by the refit was awsome and Spock's journey to meld with its consciousness showing all V/GER had accumulated was spectacular!

A living machine with virtually all of the knowledge of the universe and it still couldn't feel. It was the answer Spock had quested for all of his life to that point...

Awsome!!!

Yep I agree. Definitely.

Well, cool! Evidently, there are a few of us who appreciate TMP and its long, "boring" scenes ;)

:D

Count me in!

Same here! I love TMP and I think it is an epic, masterful film. It is really the only Star Trek film that you could call "an experience." I didn't think it was boring, I actually thought it was intense and had a lot of mystery and build-up to it. I even loved it as a small kid watching it on HBO for the first time (that's just to assure everyone that kids don't ONLY care about explosions and funny stuff).

I also never understand the fans who say it isn't "character driven." I think there's tons of good character stuff in TMP, particularly for Kirk and Spock, who take a very personal journey of self-discovery in this movie.

For me,I still get chills in TMP when Kirk sees the Enterprise for the first time in the shuttlecraft with Mr. Scott. And I still get misty eyed when Data is killed at the end of ST Nemesis. And Riker couldn't remember the tone Data was whistling(If I only had a Brain from Wiz Of Oz).
