Star Trek So if you dislike or hate the Trek 09 movie

Ok, I am new to the ST.com site and have not had time to read all the posts in this topic. With that said I am bringing the conversation back to the original question. Do you dislike or hate the 09 movie?

I have been a fan of ST since the sixties and can say I enjoyed the movie. I was not happy with the idea of the destruction of both Romulus and Vulcan, but I understand it was a divergence from the Prime Timeline Universe.

I thought freshness was brought to the Scottie character, Bones was portrayed excellently, and I loved the way the Kobioshi Maru test was beaten by Kirk (as referenced in TWOK.)

The overall plot was flimsy and transparent. However, the action was great. I would have loved it if there had been some kind of moral incorporated as Gene did that with all of his ST creations.

My biggest problem with the movie: If the timeline didn't diverge until the death of Jim Kirk's father, why is the Grand Canyon in the middle of Iowa?

it was ok, but for some reason the film felt really short

I loved the movie.

I think the movie was well done and it is now my favorite. The end scenes and the music at the end (during the credits) brings me right back to being a kid watching Trek for the first time.

Excellent job with the movie it gets better each time I watch it!

Listening to Spock when he mindmeld with kirk, he said he was from his future, not an alternate universe, so this film makes no sense, because kirk was not originaly born on a space ship, and alot of other things are not clear in this movie.
I don`t know where the alternate universe idea came from, maybe from writers that did not know what trek was and improvised whatever???!!!
No this movie sucks bad, hope for better informed writers in the next one.

You never quit do you? I mean, you are literally INCAPABLE of responding to any post without using it as an opportunity to stir up a gripe-fest about the new movie. It's absolutely uncanny...You literally have a SKILL for turning any question into a b!tc# about the movie.

Thanks again! I enjoy posting on this site. I'll engage in just about anything! Trek has been a life-long obsession and love of mine!

I think your comment is funny! I've been told since I was a little kid that the angrier I get, the funnier I am. At first that just made me more angry, but now I can just laugh at myself!
