They sure did need more consensus on the state of Earth's colonies going into ENT--I feel like the writers were largely lazy and simply didn't do their homework. Yeh, what ABOUT Alpha Centauri and Cochran? I always thought that meant there was already a colony there, of a sort.

Ah...I sorta agree with your critic this time around! :D A mixed bag, yes.

Agreed. Not one of my favorite episodes and the writers should have done their homework.

This is one of my (few) least favorite episodes.....  just never really got into it.  A few parts that were appealing to me were how the crew worked together to rescue Reed, at the same time, trying to find ways to reach out to the Novans. I did like the music performed in the caves, probably because I love music, and like the way it was found by the Novans, supporting my theory that all peoples find a way to bring music into their lives.

This is the only episode I skip when watching the whole season in order. Just don't care for it.

Many of us can't put our finger on why we "just didn't care for it..." *shrug*.

Well...!

I liked the cave music. And Archer's bewilderment but patience with the other humans. And of course, the set-up to Archer and T'Pol ALWAYS arguing about "what to do about the indigenous populace".

I did like all the running and scuffling about on the surface, and THEN in the underground tunnels. Stock let's-work-together-to-save-your-man-so-you'll-trust-me scene.

I thought they DID answer the question about what would happen to the Terra Novans: didn't they agree to re-locate to the other Continent that wasn't so contaminated?

And yeh, comparisons to VOY's Friendship One and the 37's and TNG's Up the Long Ladder or Masterpiece Society are frivolous and superficial.

tx Yx! :)

I'm still puzzled why the episode just didn't appeal to so many--the concept could have been intriguing, a look at an early Earth colony.

Maybe it was just too depressing to see where the colonists ended up, crawling around underground & self-declared enemies of their own kind. And naive & child-like about their situation.

I give this a 5. Looking back, this episode wasn't all that interesting to me. This is basically a skipper for me. :D

I think I did not post my score.....a 5, most because it's a TREK episode, and I leave 1, 2, 3 scores for comparisons with any other series.....I love Star Trek anything that much!
