I think the new Star Trek movie is a disgrace to the Star Trek universe! All the writers are in a huddle about rejigging everything with this alternate universe! This will destroy the Star Trek universe which TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY helped to create!

But hey your opinions please.

Two things.

1. This should be in the movie section.

2. You're forgetting ENT.

I thought it was excellent. It looked good onscreen and it did not destroy anything. It is an alternate universe. :logical:

Good movie. Very well cast and acted.
Even if it had sucked, the original stuff still exists on DVD -- so no real harm done.
Could have been better with some slower points in the action.
There is more I could say about it all, but perhaps later.

First of all, I grew up with TOS (in syndication) years before TNG.

Secondly, TOS is tied with DS9 for my favorite Trek series.

Thirdly, while I dug the first four (TOS) films, I was left quite dissatisfied with the fifth and sixth entries.

Finally, let me just say I LOVED the new film.

[Note: Understand when I originally found out Lost creator J.J. Abrams was working on a new - TOS! - Trek flick, I was ecstatic. As I LOVE Lost.]

INDEED I readily accept each personal viewpoint as entirely valid for are we not all individuals! And is not this in point what GeneRoddenberry so valiantly sought to convey? Relish the infinite diversity in others and value your own contribution to it.

Of course. Now for me, I had no idea LOST and StarTrek2009 had any connection and even if LOST in long term is not my cup of tea I sincerely have the highest respect for it.

Where's your own opinion?

Gene Roddenberry: created Star Trek. A very enlightened man.
Rick Berman: Reinvigorated Star Trek and gave us DS9.
Steven Era Behr: Made DS9 awesome.
JJ Abrams: Took a backsward step?

Let the universe TOS created rest in peace. The last thing we need is for it to be rejigged.

Are we talking about the movie that came out in February 2009? That's not new.

Compared to all the other Trek movies it is.
