I think it would be awesome to have a Trek series based on the mirror universe. No more boring exploration and diplomacy missions, just action.

That could be appealing, but would it hold up as a series? Maybe a mini series.

I think that would not be very true to the original vision of Gene Roddenberry though.

Gene is dead and gone. I don't understand why people are so afraid to think out of the box when it comes to Trek.

P.S. Not directed toward you Narada, just saying in general.

Yes I understand what you mean. I think something like Battlestar Galactica is more like what you describe. Ron Moore probably thought much like you and decided to explore those possibilities with another series. I think some fans would like it but many would be opposed but it is not a bad idea for a show.

The mirror universe was very campy and eventually got kind of boring. The whole point, as I understand it, was to have a contrast with the "real" universe -- so a series set entirely in the MU would be odd and a bit pointless.

Moreover, I think I'd get tired of "just action" pretty darn quick.

Wont happen. You would need a Trek series to be more appealing to a general audience, who doesn't know a thing about the Mirror Universe.

I didn't like any of the Trek Mirror episodes. ?They were just "okay". ?And what TrekFan1701 said above....

Hmmmmm...... "Just Ok" ??? considering they are some of the most popular episodes, trailing closely behind Time Travel episodes.

I wont get into the fact that alternate universe episodes are the vast majority of high quality episodes in TREK.

Actually IT would be MORE appealing because it's a fresh take on TREK ?that would appeal to a much lager audience than the standard TREK fare.

Wouldn't the general public confuse the Mirror Universe characters with the Regular Universe characters?

This I sort of agree with. It would give you more elbow room with the universe and that is kinda what you need.

Never been a fan of the Mirror Universe concept. It was good for one episode of the original series and nicely revisted in Enterprise, but other then that I see no use for it.

I think Klingon-Cardassian Alliance war with Terran rebels. To add Main Universe timeline you need sector 31 supplied weapons systems and combat starship to the Terran rebels and use Terran rebels lab rats. That would make find Star Trek movie all things actions and ethics problems. It also go into modern day problems of USA test their weapons systems in other nations that at war with one another. Then next movie or show be about what happen Terren rebels win and Klingon demand the return third most holy site happen be the Terren rebels that happens to be there first most holy site. Then UFP send diplomats deal problem. I think CBS could make find show or Movie out it.

The mirror universe is probably a hell of a lot closer to what is in our future than the main Star Trek timeline. So in that aspect it is good because it's more realistic.

As much as we all hope for Roddenberry's positive vision for the future, humans are to much on the Jerk/moron/I like to blow things up scale of things to allow that to happen.

I could see J J Abrams using the Mirror universe concept in a future movie. It would allow him even more freedom to blow things up and have endless action scenes.

However, a Star Trek series based in the mirror universe wouldn't really be Star Trek at all. The main point of Star Trek was to get away from the previous popular sci fi concept of meeting aliens then doing nothing but fighting said aliens.

All action with none of the things that made Trek "Trek" but with a Star Trek label on it is pretty pointless.

Paramount would be better off getting into an original concept that play's to the "all" flash and bang crowd.

Of course original ideas being in short supply these days...

You mean the majority of moviegoers?
