It seems to me that ENT on DVD has more to do with the up-surge in sales and watching of ENT. In my case, I liked the series a whole lot better in DVD format. Anyhow, there was more buzz here before the new movie came along. Dunno...

Welcome slayedforx, hope you post more for us to read!  I agree that fans of all the series would like to see a cover of the Romulan war and the beginning of the Federation, and if that is ever done, yes, it would be nice for the same characters to be a part of the storyline, even the same actors, if possible.  Fans of Enterprise would strongly support such a decision, and those who did not watch or did not prefer Enterprise would have an opportunity to develop a relationship with the characters in a different context.

Hey Guys I'm new here :)

Anyway, Enterprise was cancelled because the ratings were low right and I personally beleive this was because Trek was a thing of the past and kids my age (most) were to embaressed to say they watched it.

However with the release of the new film I think this has changed, people praised the film and a few have gone back to watch earlier Trek series.

I guess my point is that as the public are now primed for more trek does anyone agree with me when I say Enterprise could be a massive hit ? Like launch the original ads make a deal with a major (acsessible this time ) chanell like Chanell 4 as while it was showing lots of people watched online so people could use the 4od Website and repeat the first season but ensure it is ?publicised.

If this turned out a sucsess and the actors ( by actors I mean Porthos ) were up for it there would be no reason to make a season 5

Thoughts ?

What do you think?

Welcome.

Sorry, it does not matter what "the fans" want here.

Enterprise is done and only continues in books.

What Yanks said.

ST:ENT has run it's course.  It's a shame there were only four seasons instead of the usual seven though.

There's still plenty of facets of the Trekiverse to explore ... I'm hoping that a new series would explore the political side of the federation of planets ... kinda like a scifi 'west wing'.

welcome silentmist! hope you stick around and post in other threads, too.

I agree--my favorite part of ENT was the Season 4 political maneuvering and reconciling, the inter-species relations/conflicts with the Vulcans, Andorians, Tellarites, etc.

Plus I thought it was funny that Archer just kept pi$$ing of the Klingons all the time, when he tried to start out so nice with them--too nice.

Section 31 would be a given.

I think enterprise fell for the same fate as the original series, ratings being misread. If I remember correctly, Enterprise came on when DVRs were starting to surface and I guess the networks couldn't count DVR recording as a view. Though fans may have been recording the episodes, so that they can watch them at their convenience, the networks had no idea they were doing so.

I would like to see more episodes of Enterprise, hell Family Guy was canceled TWICE and brought back due to DVD sales, same with futurama. I wonder if they would conciser a new season if they brought out new box sets of the episodes like on Blu-ray (it was shot in HD, so an HD Transfer wont be as much of a labor as TNG/DS9/and VOY).

Producers don't get sci-fi. Maybe immediate ratings problems led inevitably to the cancellation, but here on the Boards we've proven time and again that sci-fi's true success unfolds in a MUCH larger arc. DVD sales, new fans in re-runs, word of mouth--if TOS didn't teach TV exec's THAT way back when, no way they were gonna get it at the time of ENT! :D :O :(

I was picturing Moonves during my above comment... :)

Of course, I can anticipate the critics: "Senator Archer, you are no Kirk..." but anyhow, my point about sci-fi still stands. Look at Alien Nation, Firefly, Max Headroom--"one season wonders", and classics.

So true G.

Just like whats his name... Mooves???

Dam...

I think it comes down to does the general public like Scifi? I think they bring in more ratings then just Scifi fans.

Also Moonves liked the direction Enterprise was going in Season 4 but had to cancel it because of the ratings. TV Shows come down to money and ratings.

It eventually makes money and ratings, in a different way.

ENT as a tv show will never come back. And for good reason. As a sci-fi show it was just average, thanks in large part to the last 2 seasons. But as a ST show, it was awful. Besides, I don't think that a ST show would do well on any network now primarily because  of ENT's failure and most of all, it costs way too much to make even one episode.
