Hi there. I'm halfway through Voyager for the first time... But now Kes is gone from the show and so is the original ambience. She was becoming more and more interesting. And then POOF!!! (literally)

Any thoughts on that? Did anyone besides me miss her?

I've read some gossip about it being down to Kim and Kes to leave the show in order to make room for Seven ?

Yes, there are many of us who miss Kes. Unfortunately, not too many of the Kes fans are posting here anymore due to "certain circumstances".

Personally I lost interest in Voyager when Kes was kicked out. I stopped watching the show and didn't watch a single episode for two years after Kes was dumped. Then I started to watch again but things happened which made me stop watching it for good.

But I do have season 1,2 and 3 on DVD.

The series lost a lot with Kes. She was a great character with a lot of potential. She really personified the spirit of Star Trek with her will to learn and explore, a spirit which was sadly lost when she was "deleted".

But Kes is still around and not forgotten! ? :)

Welcome!

I think it's a little excessive that we can't behave like adults. (I'm not quite an adult yet, but still.) I think that if we have opinions, can we not state them respectfully? As they say;
"To each his own."
We all have opinions. I found Kes interesting, and granted, I prefer Seven of Nine. I just though Kes lacked substance and personality that Seven made up for. Does that mean that I hated one or the other?
No. I enjoyed both characters, and in my humble opinion, they are hardly comparable. One was a sheltered girl who loved plants, the other was a cold, logical, more dynamically written Borg.
While they both have their strong points, and their weak points, I have found that they both added substance to a great series.

Well, as you can see, things have calmed down recently.

I can see your point as we all have our special favorites.

As for Seven, I don't hate her. She's probably my least favorite of the Voyager crew but still an essential part of the Voyager story. I can also understand and respect that a lot of people like the character.

I just find it sad that Kes was dumped and ruined, that's all.

With the box set we have Kes era followed by non-Kes era ...two different flavors of Voyager as I see it.

So I'm back... I finished the series and now I know that there are worse things than Kes' "death." *sigh* It must be my own over-active imagination, but Kathryn raised herself a rival for Chakotay's affections. And then she goes back to change the future so that Seven and Chakotay can be happy together. That's sickening!!!!

I understand life all too well. But ST has a way of mixing real life with with upflifting fairy-tale endings!!! Not on Voyager!!! :whatthe:

I totally agree with your statement.

But we still have the original characters and there's a lot of good fan fiction out there written by people who care about the characters where:

Kes is one of the main characters

J/C is a reality

No character destruction
