Interesting....

According to the pollster YouGuv the LibDems have pushed Labour into third place in the polls:

Con 33% (-4)
LibDem 30% (+8)
Labour 28% (-3)
Others 9% (-1)

But such is the bias towards Labour in our electoral system that being third will still give Labour the MOST seats in the House of Commons according to Electoral Calculus:

Con 254 seats
LibDems 101 seats
Labour 263 seats
Others 14 seats

Hopefully the LibDems will drop down to their usual 18-20% otherwise we'll have Brown as PM for the next year or two after which it's expected he'll step down in favour of someone else from Labour.

Doesn't surprise me that Labour is slipping I think everyone is generally fed up with them in power.

It's the first time a governing party has ever fallen to third in a poll and the first time the LibDems have got anywhere near that level of support. It's absolutely astounding even with people being fed up. It's just a pity being third is enough for Labour to win the election.

You asked if American healthcare is better than the NHS. Mostly it is. An American who can afford care (and the majority can) gets superb care. A Brit is more likely to get a superbug that's unrelated to their illness and die then get world class care in the worst parts of the system. I don't like criticising the NHS but that's truth.

Brown has had his chance - 10 years as chancellor and 3 as prime minister. He sold our gold at 25% of its worth, ruined our pensions and caused the longest recession in our nations recorded history. He blew it.

/ And lets not forget Chancellor Brown refusing to pay for the equipment our forces need in Afghanistan cos he was sulking over Blair not resigning and handing over the keys to Number 10.

That's a rotundra isn't it?

That is not what was disgussed. The health system in the US was the "overall" service and you know it.

There is no way that the American system as it is comes close to the brit one..

Private is to be an "accompliment" of the public system and that is why is it works here.

Brown took over from Blair who became defunct to himself and the party.

The record is probably still better than "thatcher". Who's to say that he will stay?

It's about time those union persons got off their butts and started demanding legislation to keep jobs at home. That is the labor job.

Okay I'll take the challenge and try to compare their records:

Prime Minister Gordon Brown:

- never elected prime minister
- sold Britain's gold for 25% of its value
- destroyed the best private pensions in the world through his taxes
- in 10 years piled up more debt than Sir Winston Churchill did saving the world from the Nazis
- first prime minister to be reportedly given a warning for bullying his staff
- first prime minister to lead his party to third place in general election opinion polls
- raised taxes to their highest level ever
- lost three votes in the House of Commons (he's the first prime minister that's happened to in well over 100 years)
- crime has gone up on his watch
- immigration is out of control on his watch
- took Britain from 4th richest country to 6th
- curtailed more civil liberties than any other prime minister
- gave Britain its longest recession in recorded history

Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher:

- elected prime minister 3 times (the first to achieve this), last two were landslide victories
- longest serving prime minister of the 20th century
- cut taxes for everyone
- won the Falklands War
- defeated the trade unions and socialism
- crime fell on her watch
- privatised the inefficient state corporations, turning them into profitable businesses
- helped to win the Cold War
- took Britain from being the 'Sick Man of Europe' to 4th richest country in the world
- got Britain's rebate from the EU
- made it possible for millions to become home owners
- first former prime minister in history to have a statue placed in the Houses of Parliament while still alive (to increase the honour it was place opposite the statue of her hero Sir Winston Churchill)
-the Queen has requested that Baroness Thatcher become only the second former prime minister to receive a state funeral (the only one thus far was Churchill)
