Agreed. Then we could stop having members warned and banned for rules that do not exist in written form...

I agree and hope that it will be done, but sadly I think this topic as well as my last one will be short-lived.

No doubt.
As will the "Hey admin" and "observations" threads in the Website forum.

As long as people can be civil in your 'observations' thread it might last awhile.

Doubt it. It questions admin's policies.
But it might. You never know.

There should be specific guidelines for each forum. People are being warned for not discussing the proper topics in each forum, so we should have specific rules for each individual forum to clear up these problems.

but there are still many spots in the TOS and guidelines where it is very vauge. Also, even you have to admit that it seems like people are getting boxes and or banned for pretty much non-issues. What next? Will someone get banned or warned for going into a topic and saying something like, "Hey! Good to see ya!" simply because that isn't following the topic? Or that if someone says "Be careful what you post" they could be warned or banned in a thread/topic?
I'm sorry if some may see my questions as whining, but I'm really concerned and wondering just how far this type of administrating if going to go. And the fact that it seems the current Admin seems to be showing us a 'do as I say, not as I do' type of attitude.
Okie, I'll place my 2 cents into the jar :: pennies clink ::

Ever since those Guidelines were posted by StarTrekAdmin on November 18, 2004, they have applied to all boards, from the ENT board to the Website Board.
Until they were removed by either LOCUTUS or one of the earlier Startrekdoods, there was a copy on each board.
 |
No copy in here, now is there? Even if the rules are the same, they should be posted in every forum. Not everyone reads the Website forum, you know. Doesn't change the fact that people are getting warned for "violations" not covered in either thread.

Hmmm, didn't I just mention there used to be a copy on every board? If you want it back, by all means, suggest it to the admin. I don't know myself why they were removed in the first place. I was one of the ones who suggested it be on every board originally.
Remember, the CBS TOU, which supercedes the Board Guidelines, is the be all and end all they work by...and basically allows them to do as they see fit. THAT is the issue.
 |
Except I read that too and a lot of the warnings being given out are not covered in that either. You keep making excuses for them. Why?

I may be afraid to post here if their is a stricter Admin. I wonder if you do posts about people in the news that a member here doesn't like would that be considered bad like name calling?

I looked through the CBS TOU already and I cannot find anything in there that refers to posting on the message boards beyond the warning that if you put any personally identifiable info on there you may be contacted by third parties.

Question for you SB and I'm not trying to come across as pi$$y Okie, now that that is out of the way Where in the TOS/board policies is it stated that this particular forum, TenForward ( General Discussions ) is only to have Star Trek topics in it? Wasn't that a bone of contention not too long ago with Admin? Also, where in the TOS/board policies is it stated that each and every reply to a topic has to be strictly related to that particular topic? I've looked and looked and looked. I couldn't find anything that covered such specifics in there. :: shrugs :: Any help?
