Hello,
I was wondering since TOS has been released on BLu Ray,
is there any plans for The Next Generation to be released
on BluRay .

I guess there is no plans for this .... I heard somewhere else it was filmed on
video tape ??
So the RAW footage is not possible to upscale to HD ... dunno how true this is ....

I don't know about that but I'll bet we'll hear something about it this year or next.

You're half right.

TNG was recorded with 35mm film, just like TOS was. Unlike TOS, the TNG footage was then transferred to SD video tape for editing. All editing was done solely on tape while TOS edited using the film.

Thus, TOS was easily transferred to blu ray. TNG would need to locate all the original 35mm film and reedit it that way, a very difficult task to match the original edits.

Could be done, but it would be far more expensive to do compared to the cost of doing TOS in blu ray.
