I knew you meant Martha. Sadly. Someone sure as heck better FIX that crappy turn of events. And I thought she was engaged? She and Mickey aren't right together, either. Someone was out to lunch when someone else was allowed to slip that in.

One of the things I've always loved about Doctor Who is the theme song. Although Ron Grainer was the composer, it was Delia Derbyshire who really brought Grainer's into fruition but due to some technicality she couldn't get a credit as a co-composer. This song and the works of Delia Derbyshire paved the way for modern forms of electronica and techno; even Orbital, who remixed the DW theme (OMG awmesome!! , has cited Derbyshire as inspirational. Out of all the different ones they've made over the years, the original is still the best, but the newer themes with the "chase" theme in the background are ones I like too. And the Eighth Doctor themes (BFA and the TV movie) are pretty cool.

OH, YES! Big Whovian here. But, my first love is Star Trek. I've been watching the original series since I was three. I didn't discover Doctor Who until the early 80's when I was about to enter highschool. I Love them both. OH...and David Tennant...such a dish.... ¿

Doctor Who UK tour
Sounds like fun!
And did anyone see the 3D SFX Magazine cover with the Doctor and Amy?
I am gobsmacked at how brilliant it is. Beat that Cameron, you smary bastard!
We've heard a lot from Mister Smith, but what about Karen...
| Quote | What can you tell us about Amy?
Amy is an incredibly sasy young lady. She's not just the Doctor's companion, she's a person in her own right. She's Amy Pond, and she doesn't always take the Doctor's word as gospel. She's very skeptical of him and doesn't trust everything he says. She's kind of this alpha female and the Doctor's the ultimate alpha male, so together they have this interesting dynamic where they're on a par and they really bounce off each other. So yeah, it's an interesting pairing.
You've done comedy with The Kevin Bishop Show. Is Amy going to be funny?
Amy is very, very witty. I think that's one of the big things about her, actually. And Steven is a really incredibly funny and he's given her some great one-liners, and she can really reel them off. |
|
Sadly the tour is a kids only event

What about the BBC Big Screen versions? Are you going to try to go to one?

See that's what I'm talking about. It shows just enough to show you that what's beneath that cloth used to be human but it leaves the true horror of they've done to themselves to your imagination. Add in those wrong sounding sing-song voices that pour out of their open mouths and you get something quite disturbing.

they only RARELY reference the "full" original theme, and then in a sad, slow variant in the background, but I kinda wish they WOULD re-do it with the full modern treatment. the recent opening credits theme always sounds incomplete to me.

I loved Murray Gold's 2006 version, because it reintroduced the middle eight. But I hated it when they changed in in Christmas 2007 with Voyage of the D@mned. I hated listening to it.
Of course by episode four of S4, I loved it, and wondered how did I live without it.
VERY interested to see what Muarry pulls out of his bag of tricks in a few weeks, with his third version of the theme. I realy hope he keeps "The Doctor's Theme" alive. Love that piece of music.

I am not sure the new guy can be as good as Tennant. I give him a chance though.

I think he'll be wonderful. The best description of Matt Smith I've read yet:
"It's a face that is simultaneously handsome, strange, haunted, mischevious, innocent and ancient. A paradox of a face, beneath a Brideshead flop of a fringe."
He may be the youngest actor to play the Doctor, but he's the oldest incarnation we'll have seen of him. And no, I am not getting into the Valeyard mess.

^ What Ginger person?
And the Doctor will never be a woman. Ever. Some people just wouldn't believe in it. And I'm one of them.

Is there a precedent for Time Lords switching gender? Not that it matters, of course. But that might get us into a Jadzia Dax and ex situation.

When Tennant became the new Doctor he asked Rose "Am I Ginger?" Same with the new Doctor Matt Smith he just said that talking to himself.
