On a lighter note, if it's ok to ask.....is 'lostshaker' a Jimmy Buffett reference? ¿

I never enjoyed the episodes in season 4 namely because the advanced technology that we saw displayed by the Romulans seemed a bit too much. ¿I said this before but I just don't think that technology could have existed, and it didn't fit in with what Spock said the Romulans had during the Romulan War in Balance of Terror. ¿I know I have saidm before that I don't care too much about canon, but what bothered me is that BnB being the so-called ("keepers of the holy grail") canon, they had to know those episodes were too overpowered.

I also don't believe the stories were that good...plus we saw a reman a grim reminder of Star Trek coming to an end...as we knew it.

Well, the drone ship was a bit advanced, but, that prototype failed. It didn't accomplish its goal. It was tested too early. Everyone found out who was behind it, how to stopped it, and the whole point of it backfired on them. So, the Romulans had to start at square one once again. Or maybe they had less advanced ships as backup plans. Of course, I know that the novels do portray some of this.

Hi Zaltar

nice poll, nice discussion! I'm curious for you to join in and discuss the Romulans--on ENT, or wherever! :)

I like Aenar the best. I think it is clever. I think it is poignant about the Aenar being used.

I finally voted, and I guess it's gonna be the Aenar as well--in fact, crewmanJC gave a nice reason. I liked meeting the Aenar and learning about their species and their pretty underground city. And Jhamel's story WAS touching--doubly-so, when we see even the hardened Shran finds it touching.

BO Actors, HBO Directors, HBO Writers, and Showtime's willingness to take risks that HBO might not see as profitable these days (Carnivale + Deadwood R.I.P.) make for a killer combination in "Dexter," the new Sho Comedy/Drama about a Serial Killer Killing Serial Killer (you read right). In my opinion, Showtime has always had a hard time producing an original series that's truly original and good, so it's incredibly refreshing to see the network pull such a "Hail Mary" move and come out on top. "Dexter" is, without spoiling anything, an excellent vehicle for Michael C. Hall, and explores the inner monologue of a Serial Killer in a way that has never been approached before without seeming too predictable or hokey. Watch it and you will not be disappointed. You'll even want to watch the next episode, which says a lot considering the network. I just hope they don't screw it up.

Personally, “I” didn’t think they showed enough Romulans. Next Gen. was the Klingon’s series; they should have done the Fed. Rom. War as the “Balance of Terror” mentioned. After all “Enterprise” was set in the “early years” (S.F.B.ers will catch this). If you think about it, with all of the time manipulation going on in the series, there should have been a more Romulan presence that could have led to a Romulan Valcan reunification in the Next Gen. time frame and a Fed. Rom. Alliance (which is more “logical” than a Klingon Fed. Alliance). During this “early years” series, just how many Romulan “deep moles” was able to sneak onto Valcan?

Well, certainly for me in the Abrams universe, I feel that the potential is there-in perhaps a time-frame between Kirk's period, and the elder Spock-Quinto of the future there, a chance exists sooner for a rapproachment between the two powers, set off by the events of the first fim, i.e. the foreknowledge, that , potentially, anyway, what happened in the other reality can occur to the Hobus star here, and a desire of those of good will to prevent a second catastrophe. You know that Spock Prime will desire this, in particular. 'It's only logical'....perhaps mudge his younger self in that direction, if not living long enoguh himself to spur something on dilpomatically. 'There are always possibilities'....

Yah, my thoughts on the re-unification in the “Abram’s Universe” has potential; but to me it’s mainly because of the Romulan’s “Original” home world being destroyed, and so few of their Valcan “Brothers” surviving. In this time line I could see this happening long before the Orgainians enter the picture; and the Kilngon/Romulan treaty never happens, because the Romulans wouldn’t side with anyone who would threaten the protectors of their near extinct brothers. I could see a transfer of some technology between the Romulans and the Fed.s (similar to that in the S.F.B. universe) ships, and certain technologies (but not cloaks, or at least not until the “Dominion War”).
