I love the Romulan Trilogy, but I might have to throw my vote to "Minefield". The Romulans were very mysterious, it wet the appetite, and it set up "Dead Stop" - which when one thinks of those two episodes together, it's very much a precursor to season 4. Plus, the episode was solid gold pressed latinuum when it came to Archer and Reed.

If anyone can explain how the background Reed offered for himself in "Minefield" is contradicted by his involvement in Section 31, I'd love to hear the explanation. Because I just don't see it.

I voted for Minefield. I agree with lostshaker's sentiments there. The other three were good episodes, definitely, but I wouldn't say the Romulans themselves in them were "Great".

Does anyone else have a problem with the guy who played Valdore? He never seemed very Romulan to me.

I want with all of the above.  I was kind of mad at Trip for leaving his helmet in the main section of the Warbird's bridge. Valdore would not have an easy time to killl Trip if he had his helmet on his EV suit.

I liked the actor. He was the alien bounty hunter from the X-Files.

Minefield, for sure.

I agree with you, lostshaker, we were given information here that supports Reed being in Section 31...disarming mines, willing to sacrifice self to save mission, facing what you fear with courage, able to withstand pain and still get the job done, bringing up security improvements.....this all points to deep training of the like you would have in covert operations.

On a lighter note, if it's ok to ask.....is 'lostshaker' a Jimmy Buffett reference?

Tish - you're right about Reed's background in this episode, but it also showed a development in the relationship between Reed and Archer and showed us Archer's opinions about how to command a ship.

I'm not lostshaker, but yes, his name is a Buffet reference.

I can't tell you what my favorite is, but I know that "The Aenar" is my least favorite. Especially the ending. I thought Trip was leaving the show so I was about to stop watching, but someone told me he wasn't, and I was relieved, but I bet some people didn't know he was coming back either, and it was a disappointment. :( ¿But I liked seeing Andoria for the first time!

I didn't like the way the Romulans were portrayed in this series.  I never have.  I think Romulans were better all the way around in past series.  It seemed like by season 4 when we saw a lot of them, BnB were too busy trying to force them into canon, I didn't like it too much.

Coto didn't create the canon proscript that said the Romulan war was a-brewin at this time....

I never enjoyed the episodes in season 4 namely because the advanced technology that we saw displayed by the Romulans seemed a bit too much.  I said this before but I just don't think that technology could have existed, and it didn't fit in with what Spock said the Romulans had during the Romulan War in Balance of Terror.  I know I have saidm before that I don't care too much about canon, but what bothered me is that BnB being the so-called ("keepers of the holy grail") canon, they had to know those episodes were too overpowered.

I also don't believe the stories were that good...plus we saw a reman a grim reminder of Star Trek coming to an end...as we knew it.
