Watching Brannon Braga interview about how everyone remembers him for this ep. I got quite fond memories of it. I am definitely in the "warped sense of humour" category.

there was actually some great stuff in the episode. it's the last 10 mins that everyone seems to focus on that seems to make it so hated. but, i thought we got some good insight into tom's motivations. what's funny is that braga also wrote a de-evolution epsiode for TNG and people seem to have nostalgic feelings about that one. in it barclay almost became a spider, deanna grew gills, riker became a neanderthal, etc. that episode makes me cringe more than this one. oh, and that was a season seven episode while VOY's was a season two episode.

i had watched it more than a few times before i got the dvds. it did not occur to me it might be a poor episode. it just seemed to me to be an interesting story with a twist.
had to watch the dvd extras to learn there was controversy.
just the other day i was also surprised to have a non trek friend bring up that episode as a favorite of hers.
i guess those of us who 'know how trek should be' are of the mind it was not a good episode.
i am just glad they had not told me this before i enjoyed watching it several times. i guess i will now be a closet enjoyer of the episode so as not to incur their rightous wrath.

I don't mind it. I never take the science part of Trek seriously anyway. If I can accept a person can be broken down by molecules & reformed somewhere else and still be alive, I can believe Warp 9.9 can make you into a horny toad.

Yanks and brcarthey sum up my feelings, though I'm not adverse to TNG's "Genesis". Brannon Braga is my favorite Trek writer.

Mine too. I think it stands up quite well until the scene towards the end with the men in giant wormy creature costume. I just crack up every time.:D

You know, when I watched it again recently, I actually enjoyed it. The lizard thing was pretty lame but then again I've always been of the opinion that Earth vs Flying Saucers is high brow.

You do have to wonder why he called his TV series "Threshold" was it an attempt to get back at "some" Trek fans? I used to hate this episode, same with Fury but once I looked past all the BS they're far from the worst, for me that goes to HUMAN ERROR

It's interesting, because Brannon Braga wrote the episode while Michael Piller was at the helm of the writing staff. People seem to forget about Piller and Taylor. Braga only had control of Voyager for two seasons (5 and 6). But that's an aside. In many ways "Threshold" is (or at least remembered as) the "Spock's Brain" of not only VGR, but of all the recent Trek series it seems. And Gene L. Coon, who is generally considered one of the great writers under TOS, wrote "Spock's Brain" but under the name Lee Cronin. I think it goes to show that the people who write the best also have off days. I give Brannon Braga some leeway considering that Michael Piller couldn't make the episode work after it had circulated through the writing staff. And like many have said, the episode only falls apart in the last act.
