loved Tasha Yar. Crosby left due to Yar not being used to her liking. Hated Pulaski and so did most fans. Thats why she got the axe. Thank God!

Lets kill the old unattractive doctor but not the hot security officer, lol. Like frakes said, life's not fair. Her and jadzia were good reminders of that. God forbid no one die but the ugly.

Pulaski completely annoys me! I hated her from the first episode, mostly because she replaced my favorite character (Beverly Crusher) for an entire season! But then as the season went on, I hated her character even more. She just wasn't a good docter! Plus I hated how she was mean to Data... It made me really mad!

I really liked Tasha though... One reason being because I have a best friend named Tasha (who, sadly, is not a Trekkie... yet), and I have a feeling that the way Tasha Yar is --strong, confident, dependable-- is the way my friend Tasha would like to be (though to me, she already is).

But, for all of you Pulaski fans, Wikipedia says that on the series finale of Voyager, "Pulaski's name can be heard being paged over an intercom at a Starfleet medical facility as Kathryn Janeway leaves the room of her ailing friend Tuvok."

To be honest, I didn't like either character very much... but even Tasha had redeeming qualities that Pulaski sadly lacked. I felt that Pulaski was a very sorry replacement for Beverly- she added nothing! She was a cranky old crone who had a serious issue with getting along with Data. She was unnecessarily sarcastic and unkind. Honestly, I don't see why she was ever brought to the show.
I could've stood Tasha for the rest of the series (shudder) if that meant they would've never brought Pulaski aboard.

Preferentially, I would take Tasha over Pulaski. I always liked Tasha, in any case.It bugged me as well Katherine  continued to pick at Data- and yet, I suppose this was a means of allowing Data's credentials as a person to be stressed by virtue of having it challenged....making any sense here?At any rate, I was pleased to see Gates back for Season Three, and onward. Between she and Pulaski, I just prefer her to some aspects of Pulaski. However, I would say that Pulaski was a fairly well-written character, and Diana Muldaur is a good actress. It's been a long time since I saw a next gen ep, but, I seem to recall her in relation to Picard as being, expectedly, on a whole other level. She had a strong personality, and we all know how dynamic Jean-Luc is. Kate could hold her own, and obviously the producers wanted someone who would be a counter to Crusher's manner, who, at certain times, when it in her opinion became necessary, would let Jean-Luc know her feelings on some particular issue, or matter on which she had a very strong moral stance that his duty might contradict. I guess that Pulaski came in as an outsider, in-universe, and out. But, I'm sure she has her fans, and that's fine.
