I agree with your assessment. Jake really didn't have much to in season 7. And I don't understand fans who say Ezri took much away from the already established characters. I think there was a perfect blend of introducing her and her backstory and not letting her dominate the season.

The only dislike I have with season 7 is the ending. There was far to many loose threads: political situation with the Dominion, Sisko becoming the prophet and so forth.
But I don't think the biggest problem with season 7 was Ezri. The creation of the Ezri character seemed... logical. Either the Dax character was gone for good or it could be resurrected. Personally I think Ezri made the Dax character more interesting. Because with Jazdia Dax, after marrying Worf, that character was in the doldrums; I think had Jazdia not been bumped off people may have complained about how dull Jazdia could have been in season 7.

I liked season 7. Not my favorite, but very little I did not like.

Unable to vote since the poll implies to me that season 7 was ruined somehow.
I didn't care for the ending but I liked it overall.

Season 7 is actually my favorite, the only thing I would have to say the Dukat/Winn bedding each other was a bit overplayed.

No!  I'll stop picking on Jadzia on the day when there is nobody left to pick on Ezri. In other words, never. *I don't really dislike her. It's just that she was rather drab. On about the same level as Jake Sisko who in the first season was really only the other part of "Ben Sisko plus kid." Ezri was far more interesting. |
