I would want to join, but they wouldn't have me, so if I lived in the 24th century, I'd probably just have holodiction and fulfill twisted otherwise illegal sexual fantasies in my holodeck until I died or was removed.

People in Starfleet seem to be exceptionally smart.

While I am reasonably smart, I am not strong analytically or with numbers - I think you would need to be.

Plus there is lots of psychological testing, which would probably show me up to be a cowardly, shifty, selfish bastard - hardly the kind of person Starfleet would want representing them!!

Plus there is the test we saw Wesley and his buddies take where they test your ultimate fear. I don't know what it would be, but it would be pretty twisted, horrific stuff and most likely, my response would be to push my closest colleague between me and the danger and then to run as fast as I can away from it, screaming.

Trust me, I wouldn't get in.

I would definitely be interested in joining, provided there's a position available for Ship's Archaeologist. But with all the rigorous testing and stuff, maybe not...Then again, there are science ships out there, even if their uniforms aren't quite so snazzy.

It depends on the Era. I wouldn't want to join during the Enterprise NX-01 era. TOS through DS9 I might like to join Starfleet. Voyager is give or take.
