There are lots of vegetarian alternatives out there. So, you could be washing your butt with margarine instead of butter!

Well , that shows how much you know .

Since most bar soaps and liquid soaps have no animal fats in them now.

Most are based on olive oil, palm oil, coconut or hemp oil these days.

I use good old fashion Irish Spring soap.

Irish Spring contains animal fat. And, if it matters to you, the parent company still tests on animals for many of their products.

Pssh, fat? I wash myself with the still-warm blood of grizzly bears that I kill with my bare hands.

I use Irish Spring. I don't really care if they test on animals, though I think they should move to testing products on death-row inmates.

*High Five* for Irish Spring.

But only if you use the original, none of that Aloe, or Blue nonsense.

I'm no expert on soap making, but I don't think pork fat is ever used for tallow. That comes mostly from cow and sheep fat.
Animal fat can go rancid, too. Even in soap form, so you are ok as long as you use up a bar in a week or two...if it hangs around too long it can go bad. Probably one of the reasons why soap like Irish Spring contains so many perfumes.

In the shower, I like Ivory...but that has a bit of animal fat, too... in fact some fishermen use it as fish bait, cause it smells so good apparently. Although, I don't know how ethical or legal that is.
