Excuse me, but how did Kirk die again? I haven't seen that movie yet.

Ever hear the term "captain on the bridge?"  Reverse that.

Apparently Shatner was the one that came up with the line and a lot of thought went into it. ¿Apparently he thought about Kirk and what he would think when he got his first view of the great beyond, and saw the great adventure that awaited him, and that was what came to mind.

Perfectly stated

You don't really believe that he actually writes any of those books bearing his name do you?   I saw him on a talk show once where he was promoting his latest book.

He was taken aback, when the host who had apparently read the book (something they rarely do), questioned him about some of the plot points.  Unable to answer any of the queries, he finally blurted out "Hey I wrote the book, I never said I read it!"

No, I have the novel and know that he has other writers to the heavy lifting when it comes to writing the book. I am having fun with canon.  :logical:

Just or the record, by the way, the Shatnerverse may be increadibly corny, non-canon and generally reguarded as a joke, but they actually are fun books and I suggest everyone out there read them.  If your intention is just to sit down and have fun for an hour or so, this is a great series.

I don't think there should be an "explanation" as to why Kirk said what he said. That's what makes it such a great line.

Why do some fans need to have an answer for everything?
