What did he see, or what occurred to Kirk as he was dying that caused him to say "Oh my..." as his last words.....

Apparently Shatner was the one that came up with the line and a lot of thought went into it. Apparently he thought about Kirk and what he would think when he got his first view of the great beyond, and saw the great adventure that awaited him, and that was what came to mind.

or he saw the last ST2009 movie with the new Kirk that changed the timeline &history...

Theres a nice non-canon story in one of the Strange New Worlds anthologies, where after he says 'it was...fun' he is whisked away by an Organian and shown what his life would have been like if he had brought Edith Keeler back to the 23rd century with him instead of letting her die. Then he is brought back to the same instant and says 'oh my' in total bliss.
On another note, it sucks that he couldnt save Keeler but he could bring Gillian Taylor back with him.

Yes sir! I just thought that since there is no canon reference to why he said 'oh my' (since the only mention of Kirk dying on any series or movie was WHEN HE DIED), you might appreciate some other possibilities that have been mentioned. My mistake.

I just watched ST IV. Gillian annoyed me. As for Kirk's final words... I like it. Something unexpected. Would people have prefered if he said "Boldly Going" or some other pun? For me, "Oh, my..." makes it more real. |

in my opinion kirk said oh my because he's just happy going to heaven he see's his son, the loves of his life, his ship, and his brother sam.
