Really, no one else does comedy as well as the Brits.
Up there with the best of the best are : Allo Allo Are You Being Served Some Mothers Do Ave Em Blackadder and reincarnations thereof Red Dwarf Hitchhikers' Guide To The Galaxy (series) Black Books The Vicker of Dibley The IT Crowd My Hero Fawlty Towers The Goon Show (radio) Father Ted Coupling Steptoe and Son Carry On .... (movies most of them)
Only yank comedy that ever came close was F-Troop. I just don't think the yank comedians get it , not a clue about what is really funny.
The French aren't too shabby either , The Visitors was hilarious.

Out of all those, I've only seen Are you being served? pretty funny.
but when it comes to that wonderful British humor, to me, nothing beats reading Douglas Adams.
We've got some good comedies like, Seinfeld, The Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, American Dad, uh oh a pattern of animation, we must be children or something. Let's see what else, ummm, ehh I got nothing else, oh well, we've got other good shows right now like House, Lie to Me and Fringe.

My .... you have lead a deprived life .... all these all came over from BBC and ITV to Aunti (Australian Broadcast Comm) and I grew up on liberal doses of them , got plenty of yank siccoms and so called comedies on the commercial stations to compare them with. You've plenty of torrent to see what I mean.... you wont regret it. You'll split your sides laughing .... I reckon most these pommie comedies need health warning labels .... BEWARE - UNCONTROLLABLE LAUGHTER IS IMMINENT.

Didn't even know about the show I saw, until an old friend was watching it, and I sat down and enjoyed it, it must appeal to my mutt nature(most of me is from Britain).
Ever read the Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series? One of only a few books that's ever had me laughing hysterically.

Yep , many years ago .... one of my son's has appropriated all my SciFi books and I've not seen it for years. It's a great read , if I recall , the first time I read it I couldn't put it down and I think my parents and siblings thought I'd lost the plot ---- spontaneous laughter was frequent.

I think our comedy is a bit more sarcastic and dark and very few outside the UK get the jokes. But then same could be said for some American comedies and there in jokes.
Men Behaving Badly is a good one. Very laddish. Love Vicar of Dibley got Dawn French's autobiography. Little Britain is good but can be somewhat disturbing and confusing but #### funny when it get's going.

Who are? Monty Python? I think they manage a good mix between drama and comedy. The Life of Brian is regularly voted the best comedy film of all time in the UK.
