I work, but I wouldn't call it good, but it is full time and in the end I do provide good customer service, so that's good. But we lost are contract. So I won't have a Job on April 17th.

Sorry to hear that KB .... being unemployed is not much fun and I hear it's even less so in the USA than here.

How good are your chances of finding another job with as much or more money and similar conditions that is fulltime permanent before you are terminated / retrenched / let go and being able to walk straight into it ?

Is your company helping you find an new position before you are finished ?

thanks.

I'm going to stay till my termination date, I'll get my severance package and vacation pay then.

I think it's a good chance I'll find another job in that are, it's phone customer service, those jobs never hold people for long, so there almost always hiring.

They told us about local classes to take and things like that, won't use that, I'll just remake my resume, write a cover letter and start sending them out in March.  Also just in case I'll apply for unemployment, as you never know, if necessary that's enough to pay the bills, but not much else, so just strictly a fall back measure.  Also thinking about school and getting financial aid, would only need a part time job then to need everything, as that is what my roommate does.

I should have said .... finding a position that starts just after you finish up , so you can walk straight into a new job immediately after .

Yep , get those CVs and coverletters out there, even to companies who aren't currently advertising vacancies (sometimes the proactive approach can pay dividents).

Look seriously at some retraining or career relevant upgrades to your credentials (if you want to stay in similar work), if you are out of work for a while , being engaged in something constructive is a positive thing to the potential employers .

The first Monday in May would be best for me. Have a gift vacation end of April to Mexico and I'm not missing out on that.

I keep meaning to go back to school, just not sure what for, nothing seems to totally entice.

Though something in the environmental fields sound promising, as those are going to be the next big industries. Everything from Wind Power, Solar Panels and Water conservation etc...

Also humanity entices me, you know, what makes us tick, you, me, everybody else, what makes someone so different from another and how to see the sameness in all.

But I'm not going to let it get me down, nor the economy, just gotta live and do what I can. Keep on truckin you could say. I'm not going down.

Environmental engineering would be a good degree to get.

Water engineers are a dime a dozen.
