To bad, But when/if things change for you look into rescues they are the best place to look for a dog.

Yes, the basset hound we got because my wife wanted a basset. So we went to a basset rescue. The pointer however we rescued from a mixed shelter. In fact we thought she was a Beagle mix of some kind because as a pup she looked very much like a Beagle but with long legs. She was like a spider Beagle. It wasn't until she got older and we saw a dog just like her on a show on TV that we knew what she was.

My yard is not completely fenced off , needs to be to keep a dog in , local dogs around here that go walkies by themselves tend to wind up dead (someone is a dog murderer - there been several dogs baited each year in my neighbourhood) , so , much as I probably would like nice bluey , or an alsation or a labbie , it's not fair on the dog to have to keep it on a chain or in a very small dog enclosure , so no dog . Maybe one day , if I do , I'll get my wife that cat she often pesters me about , and the two animals can grow up together and be great mates and company for each other. We'll just have to settle for the friendly rozellas , sulfur crested parrots , magpies that we've befriended and visit us every day , and the big blue tongue lizard that lives in my banana trees and comes out when it sees us and follows us around.

I'd think a cat wouldn't enjoy living in a pond. :cp

That's to bad to hear about the local dogs. I agree a fence is a must. The pointer would find/make holes through my fence when she was a pup. I had to put chicken wire around my back yard to keep her in.

I had one that look just like that, but somebody shot and killed her. |
I am so sorry for your loss. I know it is impossible but I would go and shoot that bastard. I believe that also animals will go to heaven.

there was once a guy in our village who poisoned dogs and cats. I was very afraid so I did not let my cat and dogs go out for a few weeks.

I would do it if I knew who he is. I do not understand how you can hate animals so much.
