Sure, in the holodeck you can do almost anything, but after a while, you'd save certain things so you have a certain vacation you've never done before to look forward to. Besides, you usually don't have a lot of free time to spend on the holodeck, and when duty calls, you have to leave.

If you lived in the 24th century- do you think you would be addicted to the holodeck if you had access to one?

Absolutely! The holodeck is the greatest invention ever!

I don't know, it's a difficult question. The Holodeck was basically the 24th Century version of playing video games. The only difference is, sometimes you want to play video games to unwind, and the holodeck you really don't do a whole lot of resting from what I can tell. You generally do alot of walking around and having to deal with various things in the program. You don't get to just sit down and chill. So after working all day, I don't know if I'd want to go to the holodeck or not.

Why not? Are you thinking of Picard´s Dixon Hill problems, when he just wanted to sit and relax? I thought that was the fault of the program he chose; from what I understand, Dixon Hill only exists in situations where his life will be in danger at every turn, even in his own office.
But there is always the possibility of programming an environment without all kinds of things to deal with. Something to just "be". I recall Geordi having a date on a moonlit beach, and the woods shown in Encounter at Farpoint. Seemed pretty quiet to me.
I´d love to program a complete world library, and sit there and read all day ;-)

No, I would be too busy being involved with my work and gazing out the windows of Ten Forward. However, I think the holodecks should have been restricted to work-related simulations (for Engineering) and exercise/training, like Worf and other Security people used them for.
