If you lived in the 24th century- do you think you would be addicted to the holodeck if you had access to one?

Not really. I would use it but I would still know it's not real --therefore not satisfying.

It would probably be like watching TV for me.

I think it would be terribly addicting.  I can't imagine what it would be like to get free holodeck/suite access much less those that would be so addicted that they would continue to pay for it in places like Quark's.

I can't imagine what it would be like to be able to program a replica of your home or your family and relive the past.

Living in the past is not healthy, eh?

I don't think it's really an addiction for ST crew. They are just stuck on the ship or on the starbase all the time so they need to exercise and relax. The fact that it can be realistically dangerous is bizarre.

I might be addicted at first, but I would try to limit my time spent there so I wouldn't get sick of it.

I'd live out my life in there. And if I get bored with regular holograms, I'd make them sentient and hope they don't kill me for all the times I made them play out all my twisted deviant fantasies. :bugout: :whatthe: :O  :p

Probably at first, then I'd get bored and use it sparingly afterward.

Just don't make them TOO sentient or else they might rebel like those holograms in "Flesh and Blood".

But, the great thing about the holodeck is that the possibilities are endless so I doubt I would get tired of it.

Think of all the education you could get from the great masters themselves, or rather as close to it as 24th Century tech can make it. Science and mathematics, literature and philosophy, practically any field you can think of. Not all of my holodeck time will be consumed with live-action porn and simulated video games. :logical:

Tourism would be much safer too; I could explore the galaxy from the saftey of my own living room. Hell, I can even make a bridge simulation and make everyone call me "Captain."
