Nah, never wanted to, never dressed up, even in private :D --but on the other hand, I'm a single 45 year old female with Ivory Tower and eccentric tastes, and it occurs to me there may just be no better place to find a like-minded guy! The places some of us clever sci fi fans fit in are becoming far and few...

Marshall made a good point. I care more about the mise en scene--the product that gets shipped into my living room--than about the actors. But I've noticed people who HAVE been to conventions talk more about the other regular people they meet.

I've never been and I think I  never will
but it must be interesting to see Brent Spiner or Scott Bakula or L. Nimoy ...

I've been to a bunch. They used to have them regularly when I was in Jr. High and High School. I've seen:

George Takei
Walter Koenig
Nichelle Nichols
Majel Barrett
Robert Duncan McNeill
Brent Spiner
and I saw Shatner and Nimoy together for a tour they did.

It's always a good time. Buy some collectibles, watch some cool presentations, listen to the actors talk....good stuff. I never dressed up, though.

I went to a small, hastily-organized show featuring Robert Picardo and Ethan Phillips and the guy who wore Chewbacca's suit. Also, there was a real astronaut sitting at a table before you walked in but nobody paid attention to him, which was sad.

I tried going but lost interest due to the interferences of other interests like Basketball and Baseball games. There have been so many years I've passed on Dragoncon. I've wanted to go to the one in Vegas but then they shut down the Experience. Perhaps one day I just might go to the one in Vegas.

I went to a 'mini-convention' that didn't have any stars at, and instead was just a way for Trek fans to dress up, meet others like themselves, watch one of the films (STXI because it had just been released on dvd), play some games and have a good time.

I'm now helping them to organise the second event, it was that much fun!

I am planning to go to Collectormania this year, although that's not just Star Trek but covers lots of different series's and films...although this year they have Kate Mulgrew, Robert Duncan McNeill and Tim Russ attending.

I don't care at all for autographs, it sounds like a total conveyor-belt type of experience, where you don't even get chance to speak to the actor in question, just hand over your money for them to scribble on a photo. I would like a photo or two maybe...

...but really, I'm going to meet other fans and for the chance to cosplay :)

I've only been to two. The last one I went to I met William Shatner at the hotel elevator.

I went to, I think 3 Creation conventions when I was in high school. ?Honestly, I didn't think much of them. ?Some of the people were a little too far gone in their fandom for me and I didn't think I really got my money's worth. ¿And I think some of the fan worship of the celebrities is a bit unsettling for me.  It's just not my thing at all.

Actually, I think I'd rather go to a comicon convention. ?Some of those costumes are really cool! ?I'd just go for the spectacle.

And I did go to ST:  The Tour before it became ST:  The Exhibit, when all the stuff (including both Enterprise bridge sets) were under one roof.  That was really fun to see the props and sets and to get some pics on the bridge and in front of the Guardian of Forever (I didn't wear a uniform though).
