Excellent idea. And I love the Colossus. Reminds me of the Draco class I designed (with the exception of the Cylon portion). And as it was a carrier I only thought it appropriate to 'trek out' some Vipers to serve as her fighter wing.

Only question I have is the fuel consumption on something that massive must be incredible, what is your solution for the fuel consumption? Because I am certain anytime you move on thrusters your burn rate has to be sickeningly high.

Thanks.

Dylithium intermix with mater-antimater reactor / infusers can run virtually indefinitely. IMU the only limitation on the ability to achieve and maintain warp would be the wear and tear on the ship and parts.

In the hyper transwarp it is essentially drawing from the underlying energy of all things. If it were star wars I'd say the hyper transwarp fuel is the force itself... {wink}

Thrusters are archaic and it is a major feaux pas for the scripts to have used it.

Impulse drive is a minor infused gravity pulse reactor discharge. Found in starships and mobile spacestations and space docks and sensor arrays... down to the smallest of personal craft / shuttlecraft. They would probably even have impulse belts to fly with if they explored this with any real science fiction research into believability (unlike the lightsaber fantasy technology of SW).

IF ST V has done its research Spock would have rescued Kirk from the rock face with in impulse belt rather than a rocket belt used in the movie.

The problem of the 2st / 22nd century is to create artificial gravity (making starship life possible with no gravity the bones begin to decompose in the bodies as do muscles) the artificial gravity is like discovering electricity and its vast array of uses.

Dilitium crystal processing is the product of gravity compression. The Romulans used it t5o the art of manufacturing singularities which they use to propell their starships into a similar to warp technology.

Crewman Daniels (ENT) mentioned coming from what would be more or less considered Earth...

Solving the gravity situation would eliminate environmental devastating energy fuels for power sources...

And vast cities like Stratos linked throughout most of the sky on earth would be old hat by the time Kirk and Spock went to the planet Ardana... at least a century old... because the gravity well devices would have to be rudimentary and fundamental for any form of warp speed achievement.
