Does data go trough different cats throughout the series?  I noticed that in Phantasms, Spot is referred to as "he" and in other episodes like Genesis, spot is a female giving birth. is this an error in the show or did i miss something in the series?

Thanks.

If I remember correctly, the original cat proved too difficult to work with and they replaced him.  We're supposed to ignore that.

Some have suggested that Spot is really a shapeshifter, or was in a bizzare transporter accident.

My favorite Spot scene was when Data pointed out to his father that his cat was present, and sitting in the Captain's Chair on the Bridge. I can't remember the name of the episode but it was in 2 parts, with Worf and Data both in search of their respective fathers. Makes you wonder what Picard might have done or said had he actually seen Spot in his Chair.

A friend of mine has suggested Spot is a Q. I'm not kidding.

Actually, in the novels, Worf comes to really like Spot. He views the cat as a proud predator that takes what it wants.

Pretty much sums up cats as a species.

I remember once seeing a picture of a cat in a magazine, dressed in a Klingon uniform! Honest to God.

While I like the idea of Worf with a cat...

How in the name of all that's holy does Worf end up back on the Enterprise?

At the end of DS9, he's the Federation ambassador to the Klingon homeworld, killing time (and targs) with his best friend Chancellor Martok.

And before that, he'd become the Strategic Operations officer for the Bajoran/Cardassian sector of space. Not to mention the first officer and occasional captain of the Defiant.

So why would he ever want to return to firing an occasional torpedo and voicing a few lines about how "the enemy vessel is hailing us" aboard the Enterprise?

Just doesn't make any sense.

In NEMESIS, Worf attended Riker & Troi's wedding on Earth. They were en route to Betazed for the second ceremony when all the stuff went down with Shinzon. We're never told that Worf actually went back to serve on the Enterprise. I think he was just there with his friends, and of course assumed his "old duties" when the sh*t hit the fan.

I think giving Data a cat was clever.
