I was an pyrometallurgical process engineer (reached principal engineer level) in the ferrous industries (mostly iron and steel).

Have more recently returned to uni to do more undergrad engineering (another area of engineering) and physics , and have recently finished my doctorate. A bit of teaching and consulting.

Now retired , because I can,

I'm 53 , I may unretire if a golden opportunity comes up or I get bored .... not bored yet .

I don't miss working , and definitely don't miss the stress and pressure to get projects done.

I was "downsized" from a small manufacturing company dealing in cast aluminum brackets and such.

I'm 48. my IRAs tanked and now I torment houseplants and frighten our blind dog and "terrorize" small children because I have a booming voice and am a sumo-sized person.
