Species 8472 vs the Empire

Yes that's right- another trek vs wars poll

If the two went into war with each other, who would win?

An Empire/Species 8472 war would be epic

I'd say species 8472 because a fleet of species 8472 bioships would easily take out the imperial star destroyers

A single bioship could probably destroy a star destroyer with only a couple of shots or at least disable it

If it only takes 9 bioships to destroy an entire planet, I don't think it would take many to destroy a super star destroyer or the death star

So who would win?

The Empire or Species 8472?

You have layed out all the reasons why Species 8472 would beat the Empire into a bloody pulp in your OP. :logical:

so you agree with what i said?

So star trek wins against star wars in the firepower category this time?

Yup. To be fair, the Empire have the Death Star, but the Bio-Ships seemed to do the whole "blow up a planet" thing quicker.

Plus, they don't have the annoying exhaust pipe!

And one would have to assume that the Empire's weapons would go straight through Bio-Ships, much like Voyager's Photon Torpedoes, and Borg weapons.

Again star wars ships have a huge fire power advantage over 8472.  We have seen that the bioships weapons were less effective against Voyager yet were ripping though cubes like a hot knife through butter.  All it would take is for the empire to kill a few of them and they would run like the cowards they are.

Not really it is a relatively slow when compared to the Alderaan explosion

Trek weaponry of any kind, must be fairly decent because people have been debating Trek vs. Wars since Wars came out.

Ever read Death Star, I like how it explains the reason the exhaust port was there and how it was ultimately thought of as possibly useful.

ICS clone wars puts the medium turbolasers on the accumulator troop transport at 200 gigatons per shot.  And the shield strength is at a peak of 70 trillion gigawatts.  This is far above anything seen in trek add in the far greater numbers and you see why the waries over on stardestroyer.net have stopped debating this.  The only ones who keep the debate alive are die hard Trekkies and new comers to the debate.

It was a THERMAL EXHAUST PORT the name should tell you exactly why it was there and why it was useful.  If you don't know or understand then let me break it down to you.  It lets heat escape from the death stars reactor so it doesn't violate the 2nd law of thermodynamics.  They didn't think of it as a weakness because they didn't consider fighter craft to be a threat.

Like cartoons, things are often exaggerated in comic books as well. ?The ICC books are said to be intended for 8 to 12 year old children by the way. ?As far as I can tell the "200 gigatons per shot" figure was extrapolated from damage to other vessels in the comic books. ?We don't see the firepower of anywhere near this in the movie. ?http://www.st-v-sw.net/STSWICS.html <-- go there to read up on that nonsense

The incredible cross section book is based off the Movie not the cartoon and regardless it is still canon the 200 gigawton figure is an official number supported by Lucasfilms. ¿This means not only in numbers but is shear firepower Wars crushes trek.  I have read the nonsense site you linked to it was created by a rabid trekkie that can't admit trek would not just lose but be steam rolled by starwars.

That whole 200 gigatons per shot figure is bogus. ¿The equivalent of a 50 mile asteroid stiking a planet at 1,000 MPH. ¿A nuclear bomb detonated in 1964 produced a yield of 0.092 kilotons which caused a 24 meter crater in the ground. ¿None of these so called 200 gigaton shots ever produced anything near this big on film. ¿I doubt Lucasfilms supports the figure either since reality doesn't.

The book is consider canon by Lucusfilms there for they accept the figures.  And the figures are consistent with on screen calculations and the shield strength figures.  Don't like it too bad they are official numbers.

The only time a ship of species 8472 has ever been destroyed was when a borg cube collided with one

Actually even that's debatable. The scene where the Borg cube collides with the Bio ship to protect Voyager is shown again later in the series. The episode PREY shows how the 8472's damaged ship was left behind because of THAT collision.
