I figured that with the 300 plus topics, it could be hard keeping up with all the things discussed, especially if someone is new to this forum and has something specific they want to talk about.

So, my idea was, you have one topic where anyone can come and ask if a topic already exists. If it does, someone can refer them to it. If not, they can make it themselves. This can help save on clutter and repeat topics. Good idea?

By the way, how do some topics become sticky? I think this would be a nice thing to have near the top for when people come to this forum.

I don't understand what you mean by "sticky".

Maybe I told you or someone else newer this ( I'm still pretty new! )--you CAN see all the topics, at least back to July, on some 8-10 pages by going to the bottom of the Forum page of top topics, and select "From the beginning" in that little box.

Most topics worth having a look at are self-explanatory, such as good Episode Threads which maybe went by the way-side but still had good stuff left to discuss!

And Vipe, we definitely wanna hear what you have to say, so go ahead and start a topic! You've had some good ones. A topic will either go away on its own, or it will stick around.

Anyway, at least for NOW, we still have them all back to the Purge, so you're never knocking another topic off the list permanently by starting a new one. :)

Aren't topics that get pinned to the post called "sticky"? Sticky Topic I coulda sworn that's what they were called.

EDIT: I wanted to make sure I wasn't loosing it in my *ahem* old age  so I googled it. They are called Sticky Threads. :D

I was just thinking that sometimes, someone makes a new post, and someone else is like "We already have a discussion about that..." That could make a lot of clutter.

So I figured, ask if there are any topics about it here, and if not, make one :D

Yeah? :D ...Maybe...? :) ...No...? :(

In line with my idea for this topic, I had an idea for a topic. Have a topic where we go episode by episode into Enterprise, and review them all and have discussions. That could be a nice refresher for those who haven't seen them in a while, and shed light on other discussions for those who have missed a couple episodes, and provide a bit to talk about.

Sounds good? :D

People throw out new "episode" threads when they have an idea. A single episode can go on for 20 pages!! I've seen it happen.

Other new posters have come on board, though, and tried to start a new thread for every new episode they see, giving us their reactions--I don't think this works nearly so well as waiting till you have a really burning observation you're itching to make about a specific episode! Or even just feel particularly interested in a specific episode, or have a question about it.

The plowing-through-them-all in exact order is the part that gets a little tedious. The random approach, however, seems often to set off a real spark! :)

SO-O--pick an episode and start a thread!

I don't see a problem with a repeated thread, as long as it wasn't from just a few days ago.

exactly. I'm a relative newbie who's benefitted from the forebearance of the old guard in this respect...

I agree. When a newbie starts up a new topic, even if it was discussed at some point in the past, it could be with a new spin and the discussion can still be really interesting. IMHO, just about everything has been discussed before. Even in the short time I've been here, I've seen the same subject discussed on different topics. If as scooby wrote, there wasn't a previous discussion just a few days before, I have no problem with a new thread being started. Hell, I've done it myself.

Thanks to you guys showing me this little trick, I was able to find a few threads I'd forgotten about. And I found my not too sublte introduction to this board on page 11. Most of you will remember that I was a bot of an idiot! Few pages later, I found my "I'm done" thread, and you were all very sad to see me go. Funny how times change. ;)

yeh, what was it with that? :) I believe that by then we were having quite a bit of fun already with you around...

ViperMan, too. and Kludge. We can disagree on politics, canon, whether-or-not-Porthos-should-have-been-on-board, but all that really seems to matter in the long run is we have the same sense of humor! :D

You know, I created an account, I believe last year, and wrote some reviews and I think I did some posting on this forum, but then I forgot what my log-in was, and I made this account.

I wonder if any of my old posts are floating around somewhere... :eyesroll:
