You mean like on the NX? All starfleet ships have saucer deflectors anyway. In the J, the primary and secondary hulls have merged together, following the trend started by voyager and the E so that is the only place TO put the deflector.

Folding space is a cool technology, but I still like the idea of opening a controlled worm hole and traveling across the galaxy or galaxies with precision.

That's how I understand slipstream works.

Horrible looking ship
Obviously took 20 minutes to design with no serious thought behind it.

This hasn't been proposed anywhere, but I like the idea. It would be cool if someone wrote a book about the J with Data providing a legacy link, maybe not as captain, but to give a contest like Scotty did on TNG.

This isn't even an opinion, it is plain wrong. Drexler and others put a lot of time into a ship that was only seen as an engineering display. They made at least 2 design proposals. So a lot of consideration went into that little bit. When you look at the progression of starfleet ships over 200 years, it looks like the logical progression of their cruisers 200 years later.
Also, the renderings that were made can barely do it justice because the cgi models were not filming models. The scale of the ship is so big, it is going to look more monstrous than the Es we're familiar with. If you read Drexler's blog on the subject, maybe you could appreciate it more.

The design was horrible. Yes, it had a saucer, nacelles blah blah blah. But the final result was ugly.

It seems like the kind of thing that shows up in a movie reboot
"'No player shall at any time make contact with the umpire in any manner.' The prescribed penalty for the violation is immediate ejection from the game. Rule number 4.06, subsection A, paragraph 4 – look it up, but do it in the stands. YOU'RE GONE!"-Odo

It is a generational ship over a mile long from the extreme future. It is more on par with the Voth city ship then the starfleet ships we are familiar with. Something that big isn't going to be as concerned with grace. In the context of what it is and the scale, it looks great! The flow of the pylon lines is beautiful. If we had to create a ship from that time, this would be a logical look.
